We came to Chicago for a two-day retreat with all our employees. Many of our folks had never been to the city. This tour literally gave us all a great taste of Chicago. Spyro and Carley handled our large group (40) very efficiently, and they were entertaining and informative throughout.

Ben was so great and accommodating of our private tour with 12 friends. Would definitely recommend to others. In fact, several folks who had never been on a food tour in our group said they would now use this experience to book future food tours for their families!

So glad we booked this tour! We had a smaller group which made it so much fun and engaging. Our tour guide Ben was fantastic! Very knowledgeable on all things Chicago. All of our stops were delicious!!! You will definitely want to add this to your itinerary!

Our work team was signed up for a bartending class. When the boss was a no show I thought everyone would drop off immediately- but our bartender kept everyone engaged. Everyone is planning the next event with the same bartender. We loved it.

We had the benefit of being the only people on the tour. Our tour guide Ben, was the best and made the tour special. The food selections were varied and gave us the opportunity to experience the true taste of Chicago. I would highly recommend the tour.

This tour does provide the opportunity to sample the doughnut rated #1 in the country (without standing in the usual hour+ line), the best hot chocolate I've ever had (Rick Bayless' Xoco), an above average tapas and two of the quintessential Chicago food experiences - the original deep dish pizza (no, it is not Uno's) and Al's Beef Sandwich. If that's your goal, this tour may be worth your time and money.

This tour however, bills itself as a food, architectural and historical tour. I've been on several food tours over the past few years in New York and Europe and this lacked the depth in the commentary. Maybe my disappointment was because I've lived in Chicago for over 30 years and am very familiar with the city. Perhaps it was due to my shock at having 4 architectural buildings pointed out and the tour script not commenting on an important Mies van der Rohe building between 2 of them. Perhaps it is because the parent company is in New York and they haven't come to test drive the tour themselves or are unfamiliar with Chicago's architectural treasures. There was so much more that could have been said. Our tour guide did his best to entertain - he just didn't have much with which to work.

You might do better going to the restuarants yourself and have an guide book.

RIVER NORTH FOOD TOUR
We have been on many food tours in many cities so you might call us "tour snobs". This tour had great reviews which is why we chose it over others offered in Chicago. Where it fell short for us was in the fact that only 2 out of the 6 stops allowed you to go inside of a restaurant and enjoy the foods. The other 4 were…stand outside, wait for the offering (small portions of whatever it is) to arrive to you. It made us feel like street urchins! Certainly not what we have experienced on other food tours. The guide (Mike) was very knowledgeable and nice but he is only following the format the company provides. I think what has happen here is that the company participates in many different on-line discount sites and sells the tours on the VERY CHEAP. We paid full price off the website and did not get the incredible discounts the other patrons received. When you make less, you provide less…. pretty simple economics. It was a lesson for us that on our next tour booked we will research the format in full detail first. Our goal is to have a terrific foodie experience, without eating standing up on the sidewalks, and learn more about the city we are in.

Molly was great. Food was wonderful Great day. Donut vault was my favorite. Wished it wasn't so cold - but that's Chicago in May!

Walking through the neighbourhood of Wicker Park was very interesting and enjoyable while the food sampled was good it was very small portions and not enough food even for lunch. I would plan my own stops as there are so many restaurants you could just choose your own and order one item at each. It would cost less and you would get more food.

I had NO clue what we were in for, but we had a Groupon and decided to go for it. This was an awesome experience! Our tour guide Ashley was knowledgeable, funny, young, and enthusiastic. You can tell she really likes to do this. Between restaurants, Ashley guides you on a "historic" tour of the neighborhood. Very cool homes, churches, parks, etc. Don't worry about walking away hungry! Donuts, meatballs, wings, tacos, & French macaroons. Several of the stops you go in and sit down. At these places, you can order from the bar (obviously you'll pay for the drinks) and they also have restrooms available. Just a couple places have cups of water but I would recommend taking a bottle if you can. Our tour ended quite a way from where we started. We parked where we started. We didn't realize that we would have such a long walk back. No biggie, just FYI.
