Our greeter, Larry Ambrose, shared lots of information about Chicago's history and architecture. He had emailed earlier to get some information about the specific interests of our group and he was also able to adapt as we went along. What a great guy! Besides some time downtown, we took public transportation and walked around some neighborhoods with Larry too. We... More

My friends and I were on a "Girls Weekend" and had a Chicago Greeter for a Saturday morning. It was raining but our greeter was not even bothered by it. He kept us inside as much as possible, showed us the underground pedestrian paths, and was well prepared with umbrellas and raincoats! He answered every single question we asked and... More

We spent 4 days in Chicago . It was our first visit. I signed on to the Chicago greeter program. A free tour of an area if your choice. We toured the Millennium Park and Financial District. Our Giude was fantastic. Holly told us so much about the history and architecture of the area. While on the tour we discovered... More

We had a great half day exploring Chicago with Sharon our greeter. The day was wonderful and made interesting by having a native person showing us around. If you go to Chicago try to book a Chicago greeter - you'll be glad you did.

A great start to our week in Chicago. Our Greeter, Pam gave us a detailed insight to her wonderful City and showed us all that she could in the 4 hours we were with her. My wife and I were open mouthed as we toured the Art Museum, Michigan Avenue and Millennium Park whilst listening to her detailed knowledge of... More

Although we've got a greeter for another area of interest than any of the three we would have preferred, it only did the experience better. This way we discovered places and things we wouldn't have seen and heard otherwise. The greeter we had was very knowledgeable and could put the information the right way. All the organization of the tour... More

Before traveling to Chicago, I googled 'free things to do in Chicago' and learned about The Chicago Greeter Service. My husband and I had nearly a 3 hr, 1:1 incredible experience with our personal guide who was a retired teacher and very natural story teller and historian. Since my husband was interested in architecture, we visited and learned about many... More

I booked a Chicago Greeter a couple of weeks before my trip. It was a great experience. My guide was Peter. He wrote me an email before I left for Chicago, so I got to know a little bit about him before we met. Before we went to Wickerpark/Bucktown, a great neighbourhood, he showed me the Cultural Center. A beautiful... More

Found out about this last minute before my trip to Chicago and thank goodness I did. We met up w/ Richard and did a 4 hour walking tour of this beautiful city! I absolutely fell in love w/ Chicago and Richard was immensely knowledgeable and enthusiastic about his beautiful city. Can't emphasize enough to do this. And it's free! Great... More

We (my spouse, and two teenagers) took a tour today with our greeter Mike. We walked around Boystown and had a tour of the Center on Halsted which is the GLBTQ community center in Chicago. Following our time in Boystown we went to Devon which has a very large South Indian and Pakistani community. We explored the street and markets,... More
