Visited earlier than choices given on the drop down on this site. Pros: Historical location, nice museum area, restrooms exceptionally clean, ticket prices not too high, lines were not long, and we were easily seated in our large family group. Cons: Seating was uncomfortable, it was hard to get served non-alcoholic drinks, and jokes were too political and blase. Won't return.

I came here to please my wife and expected a mediocre experience, but this was a great surprise! We went to one of their late shows and I haven't laughed so much in years, and the improv at the end was the cherry on the cake. Loved the experience and would highly recommend it.

Definitely uber here! Traffic was really crazy outside this place. This was a much larger facility than just a comedy club. There are several rooms and several stages. We went to the 11:00 Friday night show which is an Improv show. It was really great! I think one of the best things about this place, besides the very talented comedians, was that there did not appear to be a two drink minimum. It was fun, could sit back relax and have a Lotta laughs with friends. I highly recommend this place!

On our recent trip to Chicago, Second City was what I was looking forward to the MOST. I paid for front row seats, got there early and even bought the t-shirt. SO Excited! The wait staff was friendly. We expected over-priced drinks, no problem. But then the show stared. It was 80% not funny. The use of raunchy vulgar language, bitter-sad-radical situations. One of the first skits was about going to get an abortion. Even for all the pro-choice people, what's funny about having an abortion? What's funny about singing "I love to f*ck"10 times in a row at the top of your lungs? What's funny about confusing first graders about gender identity? So many were filled with language and hand gestures instead of wit and improv-filled comedy. I could go on, but you get the point. Very few were laughing in the audience. Even at the break, when I went to bathroom, I looked around the crowd... all were solemn, and didn't look like they were enjoying the night. There was very few improv moments. Most were scripted. I have seen much funnier improv at local clubs in Boston and DFW. The purpose of comedy is to LAUGH, get away from problems for an hour. it just reminded us of problems. I was so sad that I held this up as such an important fun event. Also, if you do decide to go, don't bother paying for a front row seat. Any seat is fine. The front row is too close.

Hi Txleener, thanks so much for the feedback. Per Second City tradition, our actors write their own material from their own point of view. We understand that it will not be a hit with everyone. We have so many shows 7 days a week, 364 days a year (as long as a pandemic shut down is not in place!). Come back anytime and try out another show. Thank you!

We saw Do you Believe in Madness. The "produced/scripted" first act was outstanding. It definitely has a severe liberal slant to it which my neighbors did not enjoy, but I thoroughly enjoyed. Not sure what they thought they were going to get in Chicago. We sat in the railing seats which I highly recommend. Even better than the front row because of access. Wait staff was surprisingly good and kept our beers full. The food actually didn't look too bad, but we already ate. Back to the show. It really was a tale of two shows. Their more produced first act was hysterical. It blew me away, but when they came back for the encore and did more traditional improv it broke down fast. My review is ignoring that part because my wife and I had an amazing evening and I haven't laughed that much in a long time. Second City definitely lives up to its reputation. My other piece of advice is pay close attention to the signs because we stood in the wrong line at first. There are people to help so don't be afraid to ask.
