I've never been disappointed at Steppenwolf. The venue is fantastic - what a great space. Plenty of food and drink options nearby, an L stop, and a bar in the lobby! The show "Between Riverside and Crazy " is excellent. Very good cast but really loved seeing Walker's versatility. And you could just feel the chemistry in the cast. See... More

I have been going to Steppenwolf for years and this was one of the best plays I have been to there. The actors were really good and the topic was very timely. What I love about Steppenwolf plays are they make you think. While I go to musical plays elsewhere these are great to make you think about life and... More

We have developed the habit of taking the Red Line north to see a play at the Steppenwolf Theatre each time we come to Chicago, and we have never been disappointed. This time we saw "Between Riverside and Crazy," a wonderful play that was performed skillfully. The theatre is less than a block from the subway stop, and the subway... More

Easy to find theatre with great cafe and bar for pre drinks. I expect much depends on the show you go and see but I saw a fabulous play with a post play discussion that really added to the positive experience.

We've gone to the Steppenwolf Theater since it was a fledgling ensemble theater group, missing only one member season. The productions are challenging, engaging, frustrating, exciting, mesmerizing, and often very funny. Dull doesn't apply. As the original group has aged and become famous, the organization has also grown, recently adding a new bar/cafe space that is worth an early arrival.... More

Great play with very difficult roles. A series of short scenes depicting a multiverse of relationship possibilities between the two characters. Only 80 minutes in length.

We are huge fans of this theatre company. Generally we are subscription patrons. There is no better theatre value anywhere and that includes New York, which happens to be our favorite city. If you are visiting Chicago and like the theatre then make Steppenwolf your place to go. Their staff is fantastic. They bring customer service to a whole new... More

Went to see Tracy Letts' latest production this past weekend. And while I thoroughly enjoyed the production, the play itself feels incomplete, truly a work-in-progress. That being said, it provided an endless source for discussion throughout the dinner that followed. Extremely though provoking, wonderful set design, excellent acting, etc. With a touch of 'polish' this, too, will be worthy of... More

As a former New Yorker, I can easily endorse this theater company as top notch and world class. Whenever I pass through Chicago (one of my favorite cites BTW) I go on line in advance and check out what plays are being performed. While there, I had the pleasure of seeing Tracy Lett's (pulitzer prize winning playwright) new play, Mary... More

In the interests of self-disclosure, I have been a series ticket holder at Steppenwolf for the last 3 years, and prior to a 3-year hiatus, a 7-year stint. Though plays are selected by ensemble members based on what will best show their talents, rather than what will be most entertaining to their audiences, plays in the last 3 years have... More
