Went on a Friday night with friends to check it out. Got there really early and was able to get one of the few booths. This place is pretty small, so get there early if you want any seating. Loved listening to the music, but weren't there long enough to see it fill up (probably until 10 pm) and become the raucous bar we heard it would be. I would recommend that you come a little later to enjoy the music and the ambiance.

Heard about this hidden away piano bar and is cozy atmosphere.
My wife and I stopped in for a drink. Very laid back decor and lighting.
Old chairs and tables. Unfortunately a noisy group of business buddies
got there first and were so loud we could not hear the piano player who
kept giving it her all. I can see this as a revisit to sing along some night.

Not your typical Chicago bar. I went here with friends while celebrating my birthday and had a blast. It was crowded, but the piano player and the rest of the bar made me feel special as they sang Happy Birthday.

If you havent been to the Zebra late night then you have not exerienced the full Chitown lifestyle. First off it is a mandate that you cannot step foot into the Zebra before 12:30 am and you must be toasted to gain the full 3d experience. The piano bar is the bomb,, the people are totally a mixed bag of older, 70's stuck in times, young hip college and your 30 somthing Yups.. The drinks are strong and the music by the piano guy is something to see.. medley's that range from Frank Sinatra to modern day hits all in a goofy make fun at yourself presentation...
be prepared to sing along, and shcnge the words to protect the innocent... This isnt juts another Piano Bar like Howl at the moon this is from another planet.. check it out its a MUST SEE.

I was assaulted by a regular patron of this place and I went in the next day to ask the owner for his help and he said he wouldn't help and not to bother him with it. Not a good guy and would not suggest giving business to a person who is like this. I would give it Zero stars but site would not let me give it zero

When we went here, we knew it was not going to be like that tourist trap on Hubbard. This was something neat with a lot of history. Yes...the place is somewhat difficult to find because it is nestled inside of an apartment building. But it's entrance is right on State Parkway. Yes....the place is small....but that is exactly what makes it so cozy. Bartenders were very friendly, as were the people there. The ages ranged as did the types of dress. We grabbed a seat at the corner of the bar and ended up staying there until close. We had planned on hitting several different spots that evening including Studio Paris and the Mid, but just ended up relaxing there. The place is great, with the piano player as well as the musical interludes. Its one of those joints that you can get there early and start the night off with, because if you get there late you will not get a table or possibly even a seat at the bar. Its fun to just go to this place because it is different. Read the reviews and do not expect something it is not. This place is great and the friends I brought cannot wait to go back.

After seeing some reviews, I was more than a little worried but the lady friends and I were going to check it out.
I didn't find it stinky or dated. It was fun! Robert was our pianist/singer and his ability to play 1950s to 2011 songs was envied. The crowd was interesting - young, old, different types of couples and the drinks were good and not too bad for the price.
We stayed for 4 hours singing away!

We visited this place on saturday nov 11.
We had a blast! The piano player was excellent.
Good ambiance, every were singing!
Service was quick, we didn't had a problem with the bartenders as other said.
Only thing my first 2 drinks seemed watered down compared to the other two! (once I got known by the staff maybe? hehe)

Stopped by with a friend from Chicago who hadn't been there in 30 years. It was a speakeasy in the good ole days. Great piano bar with singer player who took requests and was really an excellent entertainer. There was even room to dance once you got into the mood. Bachelorette party stopped by as part of their night on the town. We'll be back!!
