About Chicago Food Walks with Rebecca Wheeler
Rebecca Wheeler offers Chicago visitors and locals an unforgettable experience that’s off the typical tourist path. We go deep into the ethnic neighborhoods that are the heart and soul of the immigrant diversity Chicago is famous for. Each food tour is private for your group of 1-10 guests. Rebecca Wheeler is a cooking instructor and world traveler who serves as a cultural ambassador for Chicago’s diverse ethnic neighborhoods. Each tour features plenty of carefully selected tastings along with authentic insights into the history and cultural significance of the cuisine, backed by her own culinary travels and studies in these countries. The result is a fun, personal and mouth-watering learning experience that will last beyond the tour into your own kitchen and future dining experiences.

Our highlight of our Chicago trip was our Saturday morning/early afternoon touring Chicago's Chinatown with Rebecca. During our three hours, we enjoyed various delicious Chinese cuisines, we visited a Chinese market, and Rebecca provided us with insight into the cultural history of Chinatown in Chicago. Our tour with Rebecca was perfect not just because of the delicious food and new experiences, but because it was intimate (it was just two of us with her), Rebecca is lovely, and its evident that she is passionate about food and other cultures. Skip the other touristy food tours...choose Chicago Food Walks with Rebecca Wheeler.

We took the Devon Ave walk on a bright, sunny day in August. Rebecca is a pleasant and knowledgeable guide for this wonderful area of Chicago. She has an in depth command of the neighborhood and it's many traditions ranging from prepared food, spices, and fashion. Our tour was private for us and this allowed tailoring our tour to what we were really interested in. One of the highlights for us was exploring the produce and spices used in cooking, since we like to cook as well. All food was paid for withing the tour price. Rebecca has been in the food industry for quite a while, both in the US and abroad, and this experience showed as we discussed the food origins of the regions and the nuances that make for a great tour. Highly recommended.

A most enjoyable afternoon exploring Chinatown's many shops and restaurants. We learned about the history, culture, architecture and the food. FOOD IS THE MAIN EVENT! Rebecca is an expert in her field and the knowledge she shares on tour reflects her vast experiences. Her private tours are personable, thoughtful, adventurous and fun. A tour with Chicago Food Walks is a small investment that yields big returns. Don't miss it!

My husband and I spent a wonderful afternoon with Rebecca exploring Chicago’s Argyle Street neighborhood. What a treat! We sampled delicious Thai and Vietnamese cuisine in three different establishments, visited a truly authentic market and learned the area’s local culture. It was both informative, fun and delicious! Rebecca is full of great insight into both cuisine and Chicago-we learned so much! We can’t wait to visit another part of the city with Rebecca soon. This is a must do for both visitors and locals!

My boyfriend treated me to Rebecca's Devon Ave tour for my birthday. I had no idea we were going on our own private tour; it was a pleasant surprise that allowed us to take full advantage of Rebecca's extensive knowledge of the neighborhood and cooking. While the food was AMAZING, I loved how Rebecca showcased the culture and history of the neighborhood as well. She even took notes on things she could send us after the tour and did just that! Simply amazing and memorable - and definitely plan to take one of her other tours in the future!
