Fantastic experience. Choose Chicago River Boat Architecture tour at Ogden Slip as it was a smaller boat and had very good reviews. Exceeded my expectations. The guide was outstanding maintain a continuous informative and entertaining talk for virtually the whole trip. She had a great love for her city and added many extra insights in to the development of urban landscape. Complimentary hot and cold soft drinks were available

All the 5 star reviews are accurate. Our guide is a teacher IRL, and her teacher enthusiasm for the history and architecture of Chicago was evident. She truly loves her city, and she was super knowledgeable about the different eras of building, the different styles of architecture, and all the little trivia about each of the buildings. If you only do one tour in Chicago, this should be the one.

This was awesome! The guide talked about the buildings and architecture trends and changes through the years but also Chicago history, politics, influential people, etc. she talked 90 minutes with ease. Names, dates, events… no notes. It was very informative.

This is an excellent way to see Chicago. You will quickly get a great feel for the city and the understanding of what it took to build it. We boarded the First Lady for our tour. We had an expert volunteer guide from the Chicago Architecture Foundation.

We were greeted by Sylvia, our volunteer guide prior to boarding and she made an effort to meet everyone in queue. Sylvia was so interesting and informative about the architecture in Chicago and added some additional historical context to frame the development of growth. First class tour and highly recommended!

I've been on this cruise twice now and it never gets boring. First, always new architecture and new stories regarding the history of the many new and old buildings. Your camera roll will be filled with all kinds of beautiful buildings. There are refreshments and food on board, so don't fret over a missed meal.

Miserable for my son with autism.
Also they do not provide any water. You have to buy it for $5 and tour already expensive. Nice view of city from Lake Michigan. Seating ok but most in full sun unless you go inside with less view. Won’t do again.

Try to get on the boat with Kevin! Such a fun, informative and interesting tour. There is a fair amount of Chicago history on the tour, not just architecture. The ride is pleasant and unhurried. It's a nice way to see Chicago and rest your feet after days of museums

Being completely honest, I selected the first river tour that popped up when I searched. I was glad that I did, as the tours from other companies were on larger boats with larger crowds that would have meant staying in your seat and not moving around much. This tour was great!

A couple of notes, however. The extended time compared to other tours is because of the departure point, which is in the Ogden slip. Please make note of this! Because tripadvisor has the wrong address, and because you may think if you pre-booked that you're just going to the Michigan Ave bridge where the other tours depart (and have a bunch of signage). Or you might go all the way to Navy Pier, which also won't help you find this. The address on the viator ticket is correct. That said, you wouldn't know it on arrival, as the viator ticket does not match the name on the boat or the company, at least in my case. I had to go inside hopeful I was at the right place and have my electronic ticket scanned to confirm I was in the right place. This was fine as I purposefully left myself plenty of time, but I would have been pretty stressed if I didn't.

We almost cancelled this tour bc of our timeline but I’m so glad we didn’t. What a neat and beautiful way to get to see parts of the city.
