I was in Chicago for a long weekend, found this tour through an online search, and figured that it might be a good way to fill a couple of hours. The tour leader, Stephan, was a great story teller. His knowledge of the gangsters and purported hauntings of the downtown Chicago loop area was comprehensive and delivered in a familiar and entertaining manner.

This is a fascinating look back into a unique component of American history along with a excellent walking tour and view of Chicago’s beautiful and varied architecture.
Lauren was our tour guide and she did an excellent job highlighting the nature of the North and South side Chicago gangs pitting Al Capone vs. Bugsy Moran’s gang and how the Irish and Croatia gangs intermixed to control alcohol distribution during prohibition. She identified former Speakeasies and sites of gang killings and other mass deaths in Chicago’s history.
One could consider reading “The Devil in the White City” which is an integral part of Chicago’s history encompassing the 1893 Worlds Fair and an introduction into what may be the most notorious serial killer of all time.
Of course Chicago offers much but we’d suggest adding this to your list.
BTW - the tour ends near a hot dog stand. One can’t come to Chicago w/out trying a famous Chicago-style hotdog!!

Connor did an amazing job taking us on the 8 pm 28 May tour. His knowledge of the city and stories of the history of the Chicago gangsters along with knowledge of tragedies that lead to ghosts throughout the city were exciting. Even the ghost in the Hotel We were staying in.

Adam was a friendly and enthusiastic host! He worked to involve everyone on the tour and seemed genuinely interested in learning something about his guests on the tour. He had a dry wit and conveyed his stories effectively and with fun, humorous twists. The tour was paced nicely with a bathroom break midway. The stories were a good mix of both topics, and the tour featured a number of fascinating locations and buildings.

We did this tour on our last night in Chicago. Our tour guide was fun and animate making the whole experience a lot of fun. I was concerned about the length of the walk, but it isn't really that far and they stop frequently. I'm glad we made time for this activity!

The tour itself was just fine. Our guide, Matthew, was somewhat knowledgeable but you could tell the tour was very rehearsed. He did his best to answer questions, but some definitely went unanswered.
At the end of the tour, Matthew was very adamant that he would help anyone with directions and information as needed and assured us that he “wouldn’t leave anyone high and dry”. That couldn’t be farther from the truth because as we were finishing up, our friend became ill and fainted at the finishing spot and Matthew could not have gotten out of there faster. He did not check in, or offer any assistance. We were grateful for assistance and care from other people on the tour, but disappointed with the lack of care and consideration from Matthew.

Was ignored and taken advantage of. Being from out of town we had small hiccups arriving on time due to our uber. This tour place was greedy and unwilling to help or provide customer service. I've worked in customer service for 12 years and I have never once simply ignored customers to avoid a refund or even an explanation. I hope anyone who books with these people don't run into any unforeseen issues or hiccups as they will take your money, ignore you, and then still have the audacity to send a review request. I highly DO NOT recommend. You're better off trying another touring company. Big mistake trying to give these people a chance.

It was cold it was chilly but Ty made the experience of this tour amazing. He got into character 🔥🔥. I got to see the windy city and learn some new creepy ,weird things about it. I recommend walking shoes , Gloves, pocket heaters, a coat, and a beanie if your going in the winter.

We had a great time walking around with our very well informed host, Stefan as he guided us through the infamous landmarks of Chicago. We saw the locations and heard stories of former speakeasies, the Eastland tragedy, death alley, gangster hangouts and more. Stefan also talked about the story of serial killer HH Holmes. It was an easy walk and the time went so fast. Fantastic tour!

My 11 year old grandson loved the tour and the stories told about the City. He really enjoyed the tour guide and told several people about the tour, especially the story about "death ally". It's great way to understand the history of Chicago!

Where is the best place to park for this tour?

While we went on the 4PM tour, I would anticipate that the 8PM tour is safe as well. It’s all in well-lit, populated areas of the city and our guide was very knowledgeable of the area. However, it will likely be cold - as long as you bundle up, you should be fine.

I would like to take my 84yo mother on this..she has a walker that is also a wheelchair so I can push when she gets tired. would this be ok on this tour?

It’s a full 2 hrs of walking at a decent pace. There is a 20min break at a hotel and that is all. I would be hesitant honestly.

Why do they charge $30 a person when we are just walking around Chicago? This was not worth $60

We all three enjoyed the tour. The guide gave us many stories about Chicago that we didn’t know and took us to several areas that we hadn’t walked to. We thought it was worth the money.

At the end of the tour, does the tour take you back to original meeting place, 71 E. Upper Wacker drive?

Meeting place is outside of the Hoyt's sign at the Wyndham Hotel. Time depends on the schedule you chose. They run (I think) four guided tours in a day. The last tour starts at 8PM. Hope this helped.
