We were visiting Chicago for a concert and birthday trip and were searching for museums in the area. The Intuit came up in my search and immediately was my top choice on what to see when we got to town. I'm a big fan of Henry Darger's work and wanted to see the Henry Darger room. I was so glad... Intuit is a very small museum -- about the size of two large galleries in the Art Institute. However, it offers art not found at the Art Institute. For those in the know about Outsider Art, you will be right at home. For those unfamiliar with Outsider Art, invest some time to learn about this genre. The exhibit rotate. We... More

It is at 25-30 minutes from Union Station and I decided to walk as it was a nice sunny day. When I reached the building where it is located, by looking at one big red mysterious door (with no name or a sign 'enter here') I was quite sure that this place has to offer something nice! The bottle cap... More

I'm not sure I feel it worth the $5 "suggested" donation. Right now there is a cool bottle cap sculpture exhibit and some amazing hand drawn (from memory!) maps by a Cincinnati artist as well as the Henry Darger room. Gift shop is very cool.

Thank you for visiting Intuit! While we are still growing, we strive to make sure our exhibits promote the understanding and appreciation of intuitive and outsider art while representing this unique genre - glad you enjoyed them! I hope you'll stop in again this summer to see the next set of exhibits. More

This was easy to get to on the blue line. The museum is across the street. We saw an exhibit of several outsider artists. Most of the work was fascinating. The museum also has recreated the room that Henry Darger occupied when he was drawing his stories and world.

Discovered Intuit when doing a little research on Henry Darger. This is an essential destination for anyone who is fascinated by "In the Realm of the Unreal" and outsider art in general. The Intuit Gallery is so easy to visit. It is right across the street from Chicago Avenue Blue Line subway stop. And the docents there are very knowledgeable... More

My daughter and I went to the Intuit as an antidote to our unpleasant visit to the Art Institute of Chicago the weekend before. We viewed the current exhibit and then I stuck my head into the performance space and were invited in to see the new art on the wall. I asked the staff member there some questions which... More

Fans of self taught /folk art are well versed where to get their fix-- there are permanent exhibitions of this art in Atlanta, NYC, Baltimore and Washington, D.C. But there is nobody - and i mean NOBODY-- who does such an incredible job showing and promoting the field as Intuit does. A constantly changing show schedule makes this a must... More

With lots to look at, this space is one that is worth a visit. Not far from downtown and close to a great coffee shop, it's packed full with curiosities. From the Darger Room to quarterly exhibitions and many monthly events, there's something for everyone. And their site is www.art.org ! Not bad.

Visited the Intuit Museum over winter break. Was searching for a different museum to take my teenage boys. We have been to and love all the big name museums in Chicago many times and needed something new and different. Boys enjoyed the exhibits and sparked much conversation later. Small place and I believe the exhibits change periodically. Location worked out... More
