Parkland has an impressive planetarium especially for a Jr College in the middle of Illinois. Friendly folks and great shows too

I went to this show hoping it would better explain the relationship between solar flares and the Aurora Borealis. It not only did not have actual pictures of the flares it used computer created images of what it must be like. Absolutely not a show for children and the $6 I paid for the half hour show was not worth... More

Went here on a whim with the boyfriend on a night that we wanted to go out, but were tired of hitting bars. It was so informative and just amazingly relaxing. It's hard to explain, but I felt so good that I almost wanted to drift off to sleep because of how relaxed I was. I almost felt like I... More

Spectacular facility and a very experienced and knowledgeable host, program director and narrator rolled into one, namely Dave Leake. No matter what the show you learn and are entertained. Our church has come over every year for the past 3 years. For all ages. Cost is reasonable for what you get.

We love the planetarium so much! Prices are really affordable, and they have a great rotating list of shows for all ages. They changes things up seasonally, and also offer some special evens throughout the year. You can also have a birthday party here.

The only place in a hundred miles where you can see the stars while indoors while listening to a terrific "Prairie Sky's" presentation of the night sky. A wonderfull place for children. Good easy and free parking. Lots of recurring and new shows. A very scientific type of place to enjoy for the whole family.

If you want something different to do, maybe learn a little about the planet and the night sky, then definitely check out Staerkel Planetarium. If you're expecting a spectacular, hi-tech light show you're searching in the wrong city. I'm guessing that other reviewers were expecting something different. This is not an omnimax, but it is one of the best planetariums... More
