No safari. No refund. Bad customer service
Mar 2020 • Couples
We had booked and arranged to go on the safari on Wednesday the 18th of March.

The day before, we had organised a taxi to take us from Ella to Udawalawe. Whilst we were in Ella another tourist explained that the national parks had been closed and to consider ringing our safari trip to confirm what was happening.

I rang Udawalawe Trails and they confirmed the park was closed, but hadn’t bothered to get in touch with me to tell me that this had happened. We then had to cancel our taxi which charged us the full amount as he was already on his was to collect us.

I then emailed Udawalawe Trails to get a refund. They replied saying they did not do refunds. Upon checking their website t&c’s they do offer 80% refund if they have to cancel. Which they did as the park was closed.

After confronting them on email that they do do refunds and they had lied. They said the money would be with me in 3 weeks. It is now the 6th of May and still no refund.

Out of pocket over £100. No communication from them. It looks all legit on the website, but you’re probably better off booking something whilst you’re in Sri Lanka to avoid getting stung.

Safari with Lahiru was Great!
Dec 2019
I don't even quite remember how I found out about Lahiru (somewhere on Trip Advisor), but I'm so glad we did. I contacted him via WhatsApp literally two days before our safari, and he was immediately responsive and available. Our driver (for the 9-day itinerary -- not Lahiru) was a bit nervous about us using a guide he was not familiar with, but after a quick phone conversation, Lahiru put our driver/guide's mind at ease. Lahiru met us early in the morning and brought us a box breakfast and water. The safari was just my husband and I, which was wonderful. We were able to spend time on the animals of interest, and forego animals that were of less interest to us. He extended our safari by an hour so we could see more elephants (we had seen only a handful prior to the extended hour), and courteously called our driver/guide to ask "permission" to take us for the additional hour. Everything about the safari was professional and enjoyable. I would absolutely recommend Lahiru for safari.

The animals are happy here !
Dec 2019
Great place ❤️

The animals do not live in cages there. They walk in the park, give birth to children and feel free beings.

We rented a car for 6 persons, and each of us payed $23 for safari (15$ for entrance ticket, 8$ for the Jeep)

An Amazing Experience!
Oct 2019
This was the absolute highlight of our holiday in Sri Lanka. Our guide spoke very good English and he was so knowledgeable and passionate about the Park, in particular the elephants. We were fortunate to see many elephants both adults and babies in the wild, a variety of beautiful bird life and crocodiles. I would highly recommend this Park to anyone interested in seeing nature at its best.

Safari with Awesome Guide Lahiru
Sep 2019
We had a great Safari at Udawalawe Nationalpark. I booked Lahiru for a safari because of the great reviews.
We paid 100 USD for two persons. The safari startet at 6 am. He picked us up at the hotel. We returned at about 10 am.
Lahirus was a great guide. He spottet lots of animals we wouldn't have seen. It was really amazing.
The highlight was a herd of elephants.

How elephants should be seen
Aug 2019 • Friends
One of the best experiences of Sri Lanka.

A 4-hr tour allowed us up close to elephants, crocodiles, buffalo and more. Was an amazing experience.

It’s the way you should see elephants - in their natural habitat and roaming freely.

One of the very best national parcs in Sri lanka
Aug 2019 • Family
Wow what an experience we had. Probably because we were among the first at dawn, probably because our driver was skilled. We had the chance to see several groups of elephant alone in our jeep, with them passing two meters away with morning sunshine. Many other species to see and plant of land so we rarely were more then two or three jeeps on a same spot.
Definitely a great experience. If your looking for large group of elephants, we saw more at Kaudulla, but with really too many people around.
