As part of a 1-day adventure trip we had the change to visit a shala river. So a boat brought US to a areas with Bars and Hotels im Camp Style.

Visitors could start from their to hike in the nature are enjoy the nature by taken a sun bath and/or a drink or eat Something.

The river was crystal clear and cold so refreshing. You could also rent beach chairs but 10€ for in our case 90 minutes seems high to me. Maybe they wouls have lowered the price If we would have negotioted.

So a very nice area for hiking and some Outdoor adventure. You could also rent a kajak and explore the river even so for me a lot of plastic bottle swam arround and give the area a certain touch of a waste depony with this region has not deserved.

a lot of trash everywhere and nobody cares. some of it gets burned, which you can often smell. heavy and loud party music from every bar, so that most of the time you hear more than one song. nature is very nice anyway.

We did a day tour from Komani and had the whole trip organized from our hotel.
The nature is beautiful and the views stunning. The only problem is the amount of trash everywhere, just piles of trash floating on the river along the way. It really does ruin the experience as it's such a shock to see so much garbage all over the place.
When you get there, there are many options for drinks and food, the music blasting is party music and really not my cup of tea, but might be someone else's.
All in all, it was worth the trip and a nice experience.

Disaster disaster. Its not worth the money and your time. The nature is stunning but people ruined it. Garage is in the water and everywhere. Loud music is playing from every “restaurant” and bar. There is so much people that in no restaurant was place to sit.

First of all, the nature is stunning. We stayed in park blini guesthouse alongside the river; they and other guesthouses managed to ruin a beautiful piece of nature by littering the place all over. It is such a shame to see trash everywhere, also during the boat trip up there you can see trash floating everywhere. We hope that the albanians will see that this is not the way to go forward, a shame.

Perfect place for one day trip. You can take a swim in cold and very clear water of Shala river than take a sunbath on one of many stone islands, there are restaurants and hotels if you plan to stay longer. You can get there by boat from Komani it takes ca 1 hour trip on Komani lake.

This beautiful river got completely trashed by humans. Dirt and garbage is floating in the water and piles up on the little beach. The "restaurants" are dirty and throw tons of food away, there is no toilet paper or soap in the primitive and dirty bathrooms, rental kayaks are mostly unsafe and broken. Overall there is extremely loud and agressive party music echoing from the canyon walls that scares off the last animal that may still have survived this armageddon. If you go there you and spend money on a boat or in a restaurant there you support the destruction of nature. We were so sorry we came. All the positive reviews were so misleading. People who gave 5 stars must have no eyes and no heart.

This is a river canyon off Koman lake. From Tirana it is a 2-3 hour drive to the ferry terminal. The drive goes through some great countryside. Worth taking your time if you can. The ferry is chaotic. Difficult to park meaning many walk through a long tunnel. See if you can be dropped off if you can.

Once on a boat, again the views are magnificent. A lovely 1.5 hour trip lake and mountains. The arrival to Shala is a surprise. It is perhaps like "The Beach" from the book/film. The water is crystal clear, the surrounding mountains green and imposing. There is a beach bar with live music. A few beds and umbrellas are available (but only a few) and some water sport stuff for hire (kayak).

There are a couple of places to stay with limited rooms and you can also camp. In my view well worth the overnight stay. Food and room are decent and prices very reasonable. More importantly, you get to enjoy the place in the evening and morning when quiet.

No telephone signal wifi - so enjoy the nature and company !

During the middle of the day there are a lot of daytrippers - it can get busy.

The water is incredibly inviting and good enough to drink perhaps. However, it is very cold ! Didnt stop me swimming though.

You can hike around if you are interested but not sure whether there are marked trails. Better go with someone who knows their way.

A special place. Hope it stays that way. Everyone needs to help keep the place clean and not throw their rubbish.

Fantastic place. Is the hidden germ of north Albania, a must visit during the summer.
We took a boat from Koman lake meeting point and within one hour sailing we reached the Shala River. The water is crystal but very cold. The restaurant has simple food like meat, fish and salads but tasty anyway. i highly recommend this place to visit, if travelling in couple ore with friends.

Beautiful experience, the road to get there is very ruined but the destination makes up for everything. The staff are friendly and punctual, it is convenient to be taken by their means otherwise it would be too complicated to reach the river by personal car. Shala river is a beautiful place. Deserves 5 stars!
