Nowhere near what it was.

On visiting the restaurant for “elevenses” cakes and pastries could not be served as
they were only available for afternoon tea. We could however order from the breakfast menu. Baguette and marmalade was ordered but if the pancake, maple
syrup and bacon were ordered , I couldn’t cancel the bacon without being charged the full amount. When settling the bill I explained that having visited the Barnyard
over many years we had always enjoyed the food and the atmosphere but this time
we were very disappointed. I’ve found restaurants have the customers requirements
as their main concern but this doesn’t seem the case under the new Management and the reply from a staff member said that their policy was to concentrate on
“ a Restaurant “ . Good luck but my friends and I will not be visiting again.

Not great
Oct 2021 • Family
I must start this with the fact that I rarely leave reviews but I felt the food and service today needs to be noted. I pre-booked a table for 10 great communication via email and phone. I sent over the preorder for all 10 meals and paid £120 deposit for the table. Today 10/10/21 we arrived to a good start, only 1 member of the table ordered a starter, we then waited at least 50 mins for main meals to come out after the starter was cleared. Finally main meals arrived, the roast was not very nice at all, I would say 90% was from frozen it wasn’t fresh veg, veggies were hard, meat was very chewy, and dry, personally I only ate the Yorkshire, the lasagne, the pasta was not cooked properly, burnt on the top and the burger was so processed my son only ate the roll. We then waited a good while for the table to be cleared. I mentioned our issues to be told we was the first to complain no one else had!! Another lady came over to speak to us and asked why we hadn’t mentioned this on our check back!! Hmmm we never had one ?!!!! Apparently the waitress said she had?? I made it clear that we wasn’t worried about the money or money off just wanted them to know! Although she took 1 meal off which was the lasagne, there was no real sincere apology. To then make matters worse my partner paid the bill, returned to the table for me to notice they hadn’t even taken the £120 deposit off the total bill so we then had to ask for a refund!! I then said that our overall experience wasn’t that great, only to be met with a shrug of the shoulder and a lame sorry.

Not a great experience
Jun 2021 • Couples
Afternoon tea was nice but the tables were a little too close considering the Government rules on Covid19. The waitress was unsure about what fillings were in the sandwiches we were only offered tea or coffee not a selection of teas. Very noisy as tables were too close. The food was acceptable but not brilliant. A little more detail and personal service would have been nice and a cream tea should be served in bone China crockery.

I’ve been here twice now... once for afternoon tea and once for breakfast. There is no doubt their afternoon tea is flawless. It’s well presented and really good! We had a big table with a group and were constantly topped up with drinks.

However, breakfast wasn’t the same standard. Just small tweaks like buying good, decent bread from a bakery and not Serving what tasted like Kingsmill would be great! Also, more avocado needed on the toast for the price you’re charging!

Happy with the COVID adaptions in place though.

We had a meal at the Barnyard yesterday there were four of us could not fault it. The meals were delicious and they adhered to all the Covid 19 rules without it spoiling our family occassion. Well done.

THE perfect wedding venue
Sep 2020
If you’re looking for the perfect wedding venue with friendly yet professional staff this is the place to go. The new Apple Barn is too stunning for words and the addition of a luxurious room for the bride and her attendants to get ready makes this the ideal venue for a happy wedding. Our daughter and new son in law chose the Barnyard for their twilight wedding to be held in May, then Covid happened. Jo and her amazing colleagues took control and rearranged the whole event for September. They were the epitome of patience and calmness when faced with questions from the bride to be despite it being uncharted territory for themselves.

The twilight wedding ceremony was out of this world, to see the twinkling lights appear in a rural setting was like being outside under the stars whilst in the comfort of the cosy Apple Barn. We can’t recommend this venue enough, also worth mentioning is the resident DJ, Rav and resident florist Lisa (flowers and sparkles) who both did amazing jobs to make the day and evening so special.

Something also worth mentioning, if you’re a wheelchair Bride or Groom or have accessible needs then this is the place to be. A unique venue which our daughter (a wheelchair Bride) was able to move around freely.

We came for afternoon tea, it was very good, but so much that we brought the rest home in a box. I hope we can visit again soon.

Breakfast
Mar 2020 • Couples
Pros : The restaurant was quite nice, interesting decor of old style wood and quite spacious. The food was great the mushrooms and everything in the full English breakfast was not greasy and tasted fresh. Reasonable pricing not expensive at all.

Cons : The atmosphere was a little bit dingy could use some music, the serving was a little bit off par, had to wait quite a long time for order to get taken, had to go up and pay the bill ourselves even with two people there and not being busy.

Summery : it’s nice food if you are in the area but not worth making a trip for. The service definitely could be improved to make it a more comfortable experience.
