I normally don't like zoos because they tend to exploit animals, more so than educate the public about them. Summerfield Zoo not only cares for exotics after a pet owner abandons their care, but they pass on the animals history to the public, and the...More

This was my first visit and I'm definitely going back. Love this place! It's a small family farm and zoo that takes good care of their rescue animals. Someone below was concerned about where they get the more exotic animals. I asked someone about that...More

Love this place for a nice relaxing time. Not overly big or small, just right. Love the animal presentations.

We visited this zoo for the first time in August 2016. They were still trying to fix some of the animal enclosures that were destroyed during the tornado that hit the small zoo. This zoo is perfect for small children since it is not that...More

I think most people that come to this zoo have little ones with them. While I can imagine it would be a great outing for them, I bring my grandmother. She has Alzheimer's and isn't very reactive to things these days. But at the zoo?...More

My wife and I took our 10 month old daughter to the Summerfield Zoo on Mother's day and we had a blast as a family. My daughter loved the birds and my wife and I thought the hyenas were excellent to see! Great local zoo!

I wonder how the non-domesticated animals (hyena, wolves, alligator) were obtained. If they were rescued from a person who had exotic pets, then fine. But, if they were taken them from the wild, then obtained by the zoo, I feel really sad for the animals...More

Small, but a lot of animals and a nice visit. Casual and not very commercialized---just nice small scale zoo!

Do you have to pay extra to feed the animals or pony ride?

Yes you do. When you enter the zoo they will charge an entry and then they will ask you how many tickets do you want. The tickets are necessary for feeding or milking the baby animals as well as the pony rides. You can... More
