We spent a night on the top of it. It was great. Only us, nobody around. Just the stars above and the Geneve below. You can even light a fire if want to.

Biologists revel already for centuries in the huge diversity of plants found on top of the saleve. A trip to the Saleve is a must for all visitors to Geneva. The hardy hike up - or cycle up the 900m. Others take the cablecar or drive up on one of the two steep roads with numerous hairpin curves. The flat... More

This is a must fly once in your life. Bring you own glider and take the teleferique then hike 10 min and enjoy tge nice take off. Afternoons and evenings are usually best. On Fridays the French vol libre club organizes a BBQ so just land at their great site about 1 or 2 Km away from TO...on the French... More

Is good hiking only a short distance from Geneva (infact at weekends the mountain is crawling with Swiss hikers and although in France, is regarded as a 'Swiss mountain' by the citizens of Geneva. Looking north, it has a panoramic veiw of Geneva and the Jura mountains. While to the south a veiw towards Mont Blanc and the Alps. Even... More

Take the No.8 bus from downtown to Veyrier and then follow the signs by foot to the telecabine. The lift was approx €12. We walked SW towards the tower which took about 25 mins where there is a nice bar/restaurant and a large open field with spectacular views over Geneva.

The Salève - the mountain overlooking Geneva is a nice place to hike and enjoy a beautiful view of Geneva and the Lac Léman on a clear day. You can also enjoy watching paragliders gearing up and running down the mountain until their chute catches a breeze.

Unfortunately a bit difficult to reach it without a car : even though many buses drop you at the French border there are no direct connections to the telepherique itself. A free shuttle exists but needs to be booked and not available on sundays. More info on the website. Nice area for paragliders. Refreshing place in summer time when the... More

This is a must do if you are in Geneva. Brilliant views of the city and the lake on a clear day. Ideal spot for a picnic, plenty of space and benches. A good base to start a walk from. Also a great place to view the fireworks from during August 1st, New Year's Day etc. If you're lucky you... More

When weather is not too cloudy it is worth climbing or taking the cable car www.telepherique-du-saleve.com : you'll see the Geneva Lake & city as well as Mont-Blanc mountain on the other side, visible only if you reach the top. One restaurant on upper cable car station and another near the big antenna relay at "L'Observatoire". First one is more... More

Taking the funicular to the mountain was very easy and cheap (11 euro per person back and forth, while it is free if you have a Geneva card). Comfortable free parking. Amazing views open just a few meters off the ground, but certainly the top of the mountain offers a little picnic loan with lots of trees to comfortably observe... More
