I am a professional hunting outfitter from Alberta Canada. Eric and his staff are very deserving of the highest compliments I can give. Their service was extraordinary, and the billfish fishery they operate in is indeed world class. Our crew of 11 people found the accommodations to be perfect for our group, as were the three boats that Eric provided us. I was very impressed with the cooperation I observed between all of the captains in the 25 or so boats that offer guiding service out of this marina - they all work together in order to provide the best experience possible for their clients. Eric also helped us plan for an extended stay inland - our tour guide Santiago went out of his way to make sure we got the most from each experience he organized.

My grandson and I met nine others at Guatemala for a fishing trip. We got soooo much more. The place was amazing from the time we were picked up from the airport to the resort. What an experience. The people are so friendly and want to make your trip perfect. The fishing was great. We caught sailfish, dorado, tuna, blue marlin, stripe marlin and more. The crew on the boats were as excited as we were when we hook fish. They made the trip even more enjoyable. I can hardly wait to go back. Thanks to all who made this trip so grand.

Myself and 5 friends enjoyed a 3 day fishing charter at Big Buoy from Feb 16 - 19, 2020. We are all from Port Dover, Ont and were generally first time bill fishing. Everything about Big Buoy was excellant. The fishing was a little slow but still lept us excited while out on the 2 31 foot Bertrams captained by very knowledgeable Kennedy and Nestor along with deckhands Pedro, Kevin, Marvin and Jose. They were all helpful and accomodating - the lunches were excellent onboard - cheeseburgers, fresh Dorado we caught as well as cold beer. We managed 46 sails 65- 120 lbs, 2 Marlin 150 - 200 lbs and 4 Dorado . Capt Eric was a great host and all meals and accomodations were first rate - The ladies at the resort - Kelly, Daniella and Isobel were fantastic - The fresh Dorado and sachemi were out of this world. Two of the guys skipped fishing on the 3rd day and went on a tour to Antigua arranged by Eric. We were picked up at the airport and taken back by Santiago who provided all local information and also stopped for us to pick up a cooler to bring some fish home (Dorado). I would definitely recommend this place to anyone - all you need really is 2 sets of clothes as your laundry is also done. Reurning to the resort house after a hot day fishing and dipping in the pool (along with a few cold ones) was too good to be true. They look after everything - book your trip!!! Just back from a weeks fishing with Eric and Big Buoy Fishing Charters and I can honestly say that it was the greatest holiday experience ever. From the moment we stepped off the plane to the moment we left, Eric and his staff made sure we had the time of our lives. Two of us flew over from Ireland and never having done this kind of fishing before didn't know what to expect. We choose Guatemala and Erics place purely on reviews and I would like to thank all you good people for your honest and positive reviews. They are spot on. Upon arrival at the airport we were met by Santiago, a lovely friendly fella (who also caters for tours to historical sites if you fancy a break from the fishing) and driven to our accommodation. Eric was there to meet us and gave a hearty welcome. Throughout the week he could not have been more helpful. Anything you needed or wanted to try, all you had to do was ask. He is a super host. The accommodation was lovely. Open plan with air con bedroom and hot showers and a beautiful outdoor pool and bar area to chill out in the evenings. I have to mention "Kelly" and "Isabel". These two ladies look after all the meals and without a doubt you will not find better in any hotel. They managed to create the most beautiful fish dishes we ever tasted. They are always smiling and happy and when you come home in the evening they have your clothes from the previous day washed and folded at the end of your bed. Two gems. You do not need to bring a suitcase. A carry on with some shorts and T shirts is plenty. So? Whats the fishing like? Well to put it into one word, "AWESOME" . We fished with Capt Nestor, his crew Pedro and Kevin. These guys were excellent. There wasn't anything they wouldn't do to ensure we were catching fish. They taught us how to hook up and play a fish outright. They knew a fish was going to take before he did?? These three guys are professionals at their jobs and you can tell they love what they do. Its a pleasure to watch them prepare bait and work the lines, We really enjoyed their company. We had 18 hits the first day and landed nine. Couldn't believe it and us thinking if we caught one wouldn't it be great. Each day after was better. We caught Yellowfin Tuna and Dorado and over thirty sailfish during the week. This is a piece of fishing heaven. If its great fishing, great food, great accommodation and great company and real value you want? look no further than "Big Buoy Fishing Charters", we are already thinking about our return.

First off, we travel a lot and live off of traveler reviews, so feel a review is essential in this case: Our family of four (kids 12 and 9) weren’t planning on this type of day trip in our few weeks of travels to Atitlan and Antigua, but after speaking with the owner, decided to go for it. Captain Kennedy and the ‘Typhoon’ crew were ready to go as soon as we arrived and wasted no time getting bait in the water once we reached the optimal fishing area - these guys work hard. Both boys stared with a Dorado each (nice warm up and gorgeous fish!). Then the sailfish woke up and started hitting our bait. We had 2 doubles (all 4 sails to the boat) and even a quadruple on (3 to the boat, lost one). It was an electrifying day of fishing for us with 18 sails and 2 dorado in total. If you are looking for a very unique adventure where you get kids can participate, these guys have it. Their team worked very hard to take care of us and paid special attention to make sure the kids made memories they won’t forget. Equally important, the boat was clean, safe and lunch (burgers and our morning’s catch) was fantastic. High five Big Bouy team!
