We took a half-day ride (8:30am-11:30am) with our amazing guide, Morgan! We are beginner riders, and she made us feel super safe and reassured with tips and tricks to help manage our sweet horses Flint, Jeep, Speed, Clyde and Jasper. We climbed up the beautiful mountain leading up to Titus Lake, and Morgan was a wealth of knowledge, explaining the mining history of Galena, calling out the beautiful wildflowers, and answering our endless questions about horses. We walked around Titus Lake once we reached the top, she took some awesome pictures of our family on horseback, and then we headed down the mountain for even more stunning views. Would HIGHLY recommend Pioneer Outfitters, and if you go during the summer months, would suggest taking the morning ride— the weather was absolutely perfect with a light jacket. Thanks for such a memorable experience, Morgan! We will be back!

Our family did the 90 minute ride and it was perfect for our 7, 8, and 10 year olds. The scenery is stunning and you're not on an exposed trail like other local rides. You're up in the woods with varied terrain that makes it even more interesting and fun. Our guides was kind, smart, and made the kids feel comfortable and confident. Definitely worth the drive from Sun Valley if your family would like to go horseback riding!

Repeat customer here!...and planning to go again when we are in the Sun Valley area. They have a Galena location, which is just 30 minutes from Sun Valley, and the half day ride is perfect. The horses and guides are wonderful, Titus Lake trail is gorgeous, and overall a wonderful experience. I ride with my 15 year old daughter; we both have moderate riding experience, and have had others in our group who are beginners. They have 18 horses available at the Glena location, so can match up horses and riders according to ability level. (If you are a true beginner, I suggest calling them ahead of time so they can have the right horse saddled up for you.)

We had such a wonderful trail ride with Kristy. We went to Titus Lake and the trail and views were gorgeous. We had three children and one adult and Kristy was so attentive but also let them learn. The horses were very well taken care of so good on the trail. We all had the best time and the kids are begging to do it again.

Absolute worst customer service by the owner of the horses. He was rude, abrupt and condescending from the moment we met him. I agree with the other terrible review written about this stable, don't pet the horses, don't take any pictures, focus on riding, take a deep breath the horse senses your nerves (except it wasn't the horse that was making us nervous but him). Devon never bothered to ask what experience we had, didn't use our names
but referred to us by the color of our clothing. To add to the fun five minutes into our ride there was a loud bang somewhere and the horses reacted by throwing us off. We, there were only 2 of us, but we both went flying. My sister landed smack on her back, I landed on my side. It has been over 2 weeks and we are no better except the cuts and bruises have healed. I have a fractured sacrum, my sister has deep tissue injuries to her diaphragm and ribs. Our recovery is expected to take 6-8 weeks.

When Devon arrived at the scene (he coincidentally was leaving) he immediately started to blame everything but his horses. When he was told there was a bang he said his horses wouldn't react that way. I have been on many trail rides, I used to ride for pleasure, but was stunned that the trail horses would react that way.

We have not heard a word from Devon.

My wife and I had a nice ride to Titus Lake and back from the trailhead off Highway 75, about 7.5 miles total. Our guide, Morgan, has spent her life around horses and very conscientious at what she does. Also she was nice to talk with and had a lot of knowledge about the area. Our horses, Snoopy and Ferrari were both pretty well behaved and manageable for us. There was some fairly steep, rocky parts, and they were sure-footed through that. There were many wildflowers and the mountain views were beautiful.

Where to start? Our horses were extremely well behaved, which with 3 kids between 7 and 8, was very important. They gave us great instructions up front in how to handle them and what to do / not do. Very important and well appreciated.

Our guide, Jed, was good. Helped the kids feel at ease and they giggled most of the way. One kid was scared and he came back and brought him up to lead him, saving the trip.

We stopped for photos at a viewing area and Jed took photos of the group and checked everyones gear.

The 90-minute trail we took was perfect with the kids. Scenery was lovely and we would definitely use Pioneer again.

My family and I did the 1.5 hour ride with Morgan. She did a great job of picking out the right horse for each of us to match our personalities. The ride had some amazing views and we felt safe the whole time, even with two of us never being on a horse before. Morgan was a great guide and we would definitely recommend this for families!!

Amazing Trail rides at Galena with Pioneer. Our guides were ready and eager to help get our 4 kids and 2 adults ready to ride. Our guide was incredibly kind and engaging with the kids and the ride was so scenic. Horses were well taken care of and strong but gentle and well mannered. Would go back tomorrow if we could!

I’ve been taking my kids to Galena every summer for years and they never disappoint. The horses are mellow and sweet, the guides are always total pros, and the scenery is gorgeous. I’ve taken my kids on horseback rides all over the world and Galena is one of my all time favorites. I recommend a morning ride when it’s still cool out, then go across the street to the Lodge afterwards for Bloody Marys and a bite to eat! Heaven!
