Beautiful ride, gentle well trained horses, fun and engaging guide. It was worth driving 30 miles out of Sun Valley to be able to get up close to the Sawtooths - they're GORGEOUS. You will not have cell service but 100% worth the time and money. Half-day ride gets you pretty deep into the mountains!

Where to start? Our horses were extremely well behaved, which with 3 kids between 7 and 8, was very important. They gave us great instructions up front in how to handle them and what to do / not do. Very important and well appreciated. Our guide, Jed, was good. Helped the kids feel at ease and they giggled most of the way. One kid was scared and he came back and brought him up to lead him, saving the trip. We stopped for photos at a viewing area and Jed took photos of the group and checked everyones gear. The 90-minute trail we took was perfect with the kids. Scenery was lovely and we would definitely use Pioneer again.

Absolute worst customer service by the owner of the horses. He was rude, abrupt and condescending from the moment we met him. I agree with the other terrible review written about this stable, don't pet the horses, don't take any pictures, focus on riding, take a deep breath the horse senses your nerves (except it wasn't the horse that was making us nervous but him). Devon never bothered to ask what experience we had, didn't use our names but referred to us by the color of our clothing. To add to the fun five minutes into our ride there was a loud bang somewhere and the horses reacted by throwing us off. We, there were only 2 of us, but we both went flying. My sister landed smack on her back, I landed on my side. It has been over 2 weeks and we are no better except the cuts and bruises have healed. I have a fractured sacrum, my sister has deep tissue injuries to her diaphragm and ribs. Our recovery is expected to take 6-8 weeks. When Devon arrived at the scene (he coincidentally was leaving) he immediately started to blame everything but his horses. When he was told there was a bang he said his horses wouldn't react that way. I have been on many trail rides, I used to ride for pleasure, but was stunned that the trail horses would react that way. We have not heard a word from Devon.

We had a lovely ride with our guide Mila. We did the half day Gold Creek Overlook ride and would certainly return again for another ride someday. We were all matched up well to our horses according to size and experience. We all had a wonderful time and the views are amazing!

This place should realize that pioneer’s goal in a service industry is try to make the customer happy. Service was by far the worst I have ever seen. One of the employees there is not a happy cowboy and lets everybody know that he is in a bad mood. Just go to Mystic River they are by far the better horseback riding experience. Great service and unbelievable trails Service- 0 out of 10 Horses- 8 out of 10 Trail- 2 out of 10 To top it off they don’t let you pet the horses (the horse your paying to ride on).
