This was a great experience. We just got back and unfortunately a large fire continues to burn the mountains on both sides of the river. While the smoke was not too bad down on the river, getting there proved to be a task for the crew but they still made it happen. All the staff / guides were phenomenal, excellent customer service, and the lunch provided was very good and accommodating to gluten free and nut allergies. The water was pretty low but the guide still made it fun with hitting as many rapids as possible and splashes here and there. Given the situation with the unexpected fires and closures the staff was willing to refund or change up the trip as requested. They were very flexible and understanding. We would highly recommend this group for a river rafting adventure!

Fantastic experience. We took a family trip with nine of “the boys” on a 3 day excursion. Everett, Jazz, and Zack are wonderful guides who fit right into our group and became part of the family. They went out of the way to make everyone from age 16 to 73 feel comfortable. The food was unbelievable with cheese and wine plates and salmon and steak…well above what our group of knuckledraggers was used to. The fishing was only okay but we were able to catch and release some every day. I recommend including the inflatable kayaks as they added a new dimension to the rapids and we were able to all try them at some point. I highly recommend going with these guys on any trip and only wish we would have done a longer one. We’ll be back next year.

We had an amazing float down the gentle town stretch of the Salmon River. Idaho Adventures provided rafts for over 60 of our friends and family who were in town for our wedding. They created a safe and fun experience for all our wedding guests, and even provided shuttle services for locals who tagged along in their own watercrafts. Everyone loved their guides, and appreciated getting to swim in the river along the way! I would definitely recommend them to anyone wanting to float, either the gentle stretch that we did or the more rapid-filled day stretch.

I can’t speak highly enough about Idaho Adventures - they were lightening-quick to respond to my float trip request, extremely friendly, and very efficient. This set the bar for my expectations pretty high, so I was pleasantly surprised when the in-person contact for our float trip, as well as our actual river experience, took everything up another notch! This was a family float that included two small children, and we felt safe and comfortable in our guide’s capable hands. If you’re thinking about a river trip, call these folks pronto!

We hadn't rafted in over 20 years and wanted to ease into it with the 3/4 day historic float trip. Our guide, Amelia and driver, Zack were great, getting the raft and other gear ready, having great conversations while we drifted downstream and through the sometimes small rapids. At the end, they had a delicious lunch ready for us.
Highly recommend. This introductory float has us wanting to come back next year for one of the white water trips.

We went on a rafting trip a year ago with Jaz as well as a float in one of the small kayaks. This year, we wanted to 'float' a little further. However, due to the high/fast river my husband want able to get out at the planned 'pick up' spot. The Idaho Adventures staff jumped into action and made a quick decision to 'chase' him down the river to ensure his safety...all while staying calm and remaining professional!

Thanks for writing us a review! It was so awesome to get to see you guys again, you were my very firsts guests I got to take down the river as an outfitter in 2021 and then to get to facilitate some fun and rent to you this year was so fun for me! So happy that we were able to get Bob back so quickly, and we can't wait to see you guys again!

We took a 3 day trip with teenage children. Lars and Zach were great guides, experienced and safety conscious, but could also be your own kids (if ours were older and wiser). The amount of time they put in every day on food prep, cleanup, packing etc was impressive and they went out of their way to make sure everyone's experience was the best it could be. Food was quite good. River was a bit low by the time we went, but was probably the right speed for our group. Lots of wildlife which was cool. Thumbs up.

After our original shuttle company completely failed to shuttle our 5 vehicles our group needed last minute shuttles. Jazlyn organized a crew the day before our group got off the river. They drove all through the night to make this happen knowing they had a full day of assisting other stranded rafters and guiding other river trips the following morning/day. They were professional, helpful, and went above and beyond with organizing and completing our vehicle shuttles.

Jaz, Everett, and Lars were awesome. We showed up late, after they were actually closed and were welcomed in and they set up tours for the next 2 days for us on the spot. This was after a less than welcoming experience at another shop. Such great customer service!

Bowen and Rose were phenomenal river guides! We couldn't have asked for anyone better than them. Everett and Jazz are the owners and run a fantastic company. We highly recommend you use them for your rafting trips in Salmon, ID.

What is the best airport to fly to for rafting the salmon river?
When is the best time to go for the best rapids?
What are some nearby attractions for adventurous souls?
I plan to take the adventurous route, so far my fav river was the Gauley.
Willing to drive somewhat to get to cool places.
Ex - Great hiking, falls, new things to try, etc.
Or local restaurant to try near the river trip?

Great questions - Can't answer them all given there may be lots of options. What I can say is that the main Salmon is not like the Gauley - more like the Potomac/Shenandoah, at least at mid water level. The Middle Fork is apparently amazing at high- to mid-water levels. For Gauley-like water I'd suggest looking at the Payette River in which case you'd fly into Boise. Or if you're planning a spring trip, there's the Lochsa - where you'd probably want to fly into Missoula.
