My son and I and two other friends signed up for this six day trip thinking it was a fly fishing destination . And it was a wonderful fishing trip; great water, beautiful views, terrific fishing and highly experienced and engaging guides. But it turned out to be more than just fishing; a true river experience. White water rafting and amazing white water kayaking using inflatable kayaks (AKA Duckies) was a blast. This outfit is incredibly organized; the logistics are formidable and they handled everything with ease and great humor. There were a few monkey wrenches thrown into the gears (thunderstorms in particular) but there was always a plan B and they always adjusted and the show went on without a hitch. The meals were fantastic; restaurant quality with fresh baked goods every day. Incredibly, all prepared on the river with wood fires and primitive tools. The wilderness canyon is not to be missed; one of the few truly wild venues left in the US. When I took the time to look up from my fly, the views took my breath away. Solitude stresses this is a true and complete river experience, and that is what can be expected.

Our trip down the Middle Fork of the Salmon river with Solitude River Trips was absolutely amazing. Everything was first class from the rafts to the food and the guides. Every day was special in its own way and the beauty of the Middle Fork is breathtaking.

All of the guides were very knowledgeable and were so courteous, professional and friendly. They went above and beyond every single day to make our trip comfortable, safe and exciting. Their knowledge of the river kept us out of harms way while providing a great rafting experience.

The fishing guides got us into position to fish and pointed out the best water and places to catch the native Cutthroats. We caught well over 20 fish each day and it was the most fun that I have ever had fishing.

I would highly recommend floating or fishing with Solitude River Trips/

The best part of this experience is the special attention the guides provide - making sure you enjoy this wilderness adventure safely and comfortably. There is nothing that could be done to improve the experience!
We were cared for and catered to every minute of the day. The Middle Fork of the Salmon River is the most incredible outdoor theatre nature has created. Put it on your bucket list and go with Solitude for the trip of a lifetime!

Solitude River Trips made the Middle Fork magical. The guides were fun, and told us so much about the history and geology of the area. Besides being well-trained river guides, they are excellent chefs, masters of Dutch oven cooking. Safety is their number one concern; they watch out after each and every guest. Fishing, hiking and inflatable kayaking are offered. The guests are well entertained. Music around the campfire at night was performed by some of the guides. There are several hot springs
along the way to be enjoyed. We saw lots of bighorn sheep and bald eagles. The beauty of the Middle Fork is unforgettable. Solitude River Trips is the best! Their guides make the difference. What a wonderful time we had!

All of the staff/guides were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable as well as extremely fun to be with. The meals were all delicious! Everything was organized yet never created a feeling of being rushed. Oh course the Middle Fork of the Salmon River is beautiful, even in the rain and no trip into these mountains should be without a thunder and lightening storm. Excitement on the river, with the weather and so much laughter with the people traveling in our group made this trip an experience I will never forget. We are planning our next one already!

The entire trip was well organized and well managed from start to finish. Willi and his crew of seasoned guides were exceptional, very courteous, knowledgeable, professional, worked well as a team and made the trip enjoyable and created a memory of a lifetime.
The food was outstanding. The fishing guides were so helpful and patient for a first time fly fisherman that I am now “hooked” and want to come again!
From someone with an extensive background in leadership and management, both in the military and private business, it was remarkable to see how the team worked so well together under the leadership of Miles.
Highly recommend this trip for both novice and experienced fishermen. Will definitely go again with Solitude River Trips.

It is difficult to find sufficient superlatives to describe spending a week on the Middle Fork of the Salmon River in the care of the Solitude Team. The river is wild and diverse offering something new everyday. The guide team is experienced in safety on the river and comfort in camp. I recommend them without reservation.

I just completed my 3rd trip with Solitude and plan to go again next year. I can not recommend this group of professionals enough. Willi and his team go out of their way to keep you safe and comfortable over your 6-day journey on the Middlefork of the Salmon River. All their efforts allow you to get the most out of your wilderness experience. Aside from the beauty you will experience, the tents, with their cots and pads, provide a comfortable sleep. If you want a quick refresh, their outdoor portable shower offers enough privacy and decadent warm water, and the menu is incredible. They are also willing to accommodate you with any food restrictions with a delicious alternative. You will raft, hike, eat, swim, laugh, eat again, and sleep under the stars.

My favorite take souvenirs from my trips with Solitude are the people I meet, from the incredibly professional and accommodating guides to the guests on the journey. I have met some wonderful friends on each trip. I have traveled on other adventures with a few since and continue to stay in contact with them. A Solitude Trip is one you will never forget.

Easily the best outfit on the river! This was our second year rafting with Solitude. They are a top shelf outfit throughout the entire booking and rafting experience. We were a large friends and family group with rafters and a few fishermen. Unfortunately, one of our group took a tumble and had to leave the river a day early -- an experience that was handled with the utmost professionalism.

Our 5 night trip with Solitude was unbelievable. We had opportunities on paddle boats, champagne boats or duckies on swift of gentle water. We had opportunities for hiking to pictographs, hidden hot springs and filled our water bottles from a fresh water mountain spring. The guides were knowledgeable regarding local geology, Native American culture of the region, treated us all with total respect and care for our safety and well being. Ours was a refreshing, rainy trip with the skies opening up—but the tent cover went up and we continued on without skipping a beat. I would recommend this trip wholeheartedly!
