Where do I start? This trip was EPIC! First, let me mention leading up to the trip, Mary's emails were very detailed and so helpful. ;-) When we met Skip, Mary and Julia for orientation at Stanley, they were very thorough in letting us know what we needed and what to expect, and if we didn't have something they let us know where we could get it! Having Mary on our trip was so much fun, we got to hear all of the stories on how IRJ got to where they are today. Skip, Drew, Dillion, Galen, Julia, Jo and Libby are AMAZING human beings. Their knowledge of the river and the history of the Frank Church wilderness was so fascinating, and interesting to learn about. I'm not going to lie, I have girl crushes on these women! They make manuvering the boats so easy! They all went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and well fed! To quote my boyfriend "You guys make me feel like I'm Justin Timberlake!" LOL! Everytime I would thank them for anything, they would thank me back. I cried when we got off the river, and on the bus ride. Its hard for me to put into words how absolutely incredible this trip was and how much it has changed me as a person. I can't wait to go back. I fell even more in love with Idaho. I left a piece of my heart on the river. Thank you so much to the crew for a wonderful experience! Much Love, xoxo!

It was great to meet you and boat the Middle Fork together with you, your husband and friends. What a fun trip, I was happy to be on the river with you and get swept away with your fun, positive energy. The Middle Fork and the Frank Church Wilderness is one of those beautiful places that has a way of entering your heart. Spending time in a wilderness area truly re-sets our minds and can bring a deep sense of peace. We hope that tranquil feeling you left with lasts a long time. So glad that you fell in love with Idaho and that we may see you back again for another fun trip. Thank you for your time in writing this review and for joining us on the Middle Fork of the Salmon River. And also thank you for bringing along Justin Timberlake, he was so down to earth I couldn't believe it! ;) Warm regards, Mary Idaho River Journeys

This middle fork of the salmon raft trip with IRJ was 1 of the top 3 vacations to date. The other 2 are BVI/USVI sailing and Europe. Not in that order! Skip and his team were very helpful before during and after the trip. The emails contained all of the info needed for a successful trip. Mary answered everything. The scenery, wildlife, food, preparedness of IRJ, hospitality among the guests, we had stunning weather, wine from bottles!!! I can't show you a pic that properly represents the scenery. We saw big horn sheep several times. A pygmy owl was in camp one night, bald eagles and a golden too! The transportation and facilitation of our gear was impressive. And the shower!! There is something about taking a shower outdoors...Excellent boatsmanship by the guides, who were interesting and informed about the river, technique, habitat you name it. That Drew can really put on a show with his guitar and voice. Each guide had a special contribution with their histories and talents. I can't say enough good about the trip and IRJ.

There is a reason IRJ has all 5 out of 5 star reviews - this is an absolute top operation. My wife and I have travelled around the globe with some of the best operators and would put Mary, Skip, and crew up against any of them. Booking and pre-trip planning was a pleasure - easy, informative, and Mary was especially helpful and responsive as we set up our trip. The Middle Fork is a spectacular location made that much better by the amazing team that accompanies you on each trip. Having a tenured professor as a river guide is certainly a welcome exception and enriching experience. Every crew member was professional, friendly, and above all enthusiastic. We spent time in a raft with each guide and were blown away by their dedication and love for the river. By the end of our trip our group (including guides) felt like one big family. This type of adventure seems to also draw great guests - we had a wonderful time making new friends from near and far. Interesting and engaging conversation abounds. Food is plentiful, delicious, and always prepared with the same attention to detail as every other aspect of the trip. Baked goods and meat are locally sourced further underscoring the team's focus on a tailored experience. TLDR - IRJ is among the easiest decisions you can make in the travel world. Grateful for our week on the Middle Fork and looking forward to another trip soon!

Great to hear from you and sure appreciate that you took the time to write a review. It was a pleasure working with you and your wife on planning a fun Middle Fork trip. We are glad that you enjoyed getting to know the Idaho River Journeys' guides. We are fortunate that our guides come back year after year, some for the whole season and some for a trip here and there depending on their career path. The Middle Fork is one of those places that works its way into your heart, especially for those who guide there. A trip on the Middle whether going as a guest or working as a guide will refresh your mind and rejuvenate your spirit. And so glad you mentioned this: "This type of adventure seems to also draw great guests ". We have so many wonderful, adventurous, positive, and active guests who come on our trips. And thank you for all the positive energy and fun conversation you brought to this river adventure. We thank you for joining us and look forward to another fun trip in the future. Warm regards, Mary

Trip of a lifetime! We did a 5 night rafting trip down the Middle Fork. The scenery was picturesque. I had no idea how beautiful a state Idaho was. The guides worked like crazy to make sure our time on and off the river was loaded with fun. We went on beautiful hikes, hit up some hot springs, learned fly fishing (and caught a few), etc. And even though fun was a priority, safety was also. Our guides were super diligent about making sure we took advantage of the Middle Fork River in the safest ways possible. Few other things to mention: awesome food, comfortable tents/sleeping bags and great company. I had not been in a tent since I was like 8. Idaho River Journeys helped me get out of my comfort zone and have one special trip.

WONDERFUL memories of a lifetime made with two teenage grandsons! Instead of giving them monetary gifts, I wanted them to always remember me as the crazy pawpaw that would do or try anything. The adventure included great bonding, excitement, exercise, fantastic food, and NO electronic gadgets. SECOND time on this trip and it was FANTASTIC !!!

We appreciate you coming back to boat with us again on Idaho's Middle Fork of the Salmon River. This time making it an even more special trip by bringing along your terrific grandsons. The inability to access cell phones and other electronic devices is fast becoming one of the best parts of a wilderness river trip. We once again enjoyed your company on the water and at camp. It's a wonderful philosophy to give your grandsons experiences that they will always remember like river time with their fun pawpaw! Thank you for joining us and for making the Middle Fork one of your own special places. Warm regards, Mary Idaho River Journeys
