We (3 kids - 12,10,8 and 2 adults) just completed a 5 day rafting trip down the Salmon River with Mountain River Outfitters. It was a terrific time. I've been on a # of rafting trips with other outfits and this was the best one I've been on. I gained a few pounds because the food was fantastic. There were plenty of activities for the kids and the guides were very knowledgeable about the river and its history. I want to give a shout out to Shaggy (Elliott) - he made it a fun time rafting on his boat and we loved his music. This trip is a great introduction for younger kids to start rafting.

We travelled from Miami, Washington DC and New York City to experience this adventure. I grew up in western Oregon and always heard of, yet never experienced the Snake River/Hells Canyon area. You must see it to believe it.
We had grand visions of catching salmon and keeping enough for dinner, even planned a menu around it! Like Peyton said if it were easy it would be called “catching” rather than fishing. Honestly landing a salmon was secondary, getting to experience this part of the world made it worth the journey.
Kudos to Peyton and Sean who had a boat load of amateurs; we kept them busy freeing snagged lines, untangling knots and countless other blunders. While not successful at catching salmon we did pretty good with the bass. My daughter, the NYC flight attendant was angler of the day, all we heard from her was “caught another one”. The bass tasted great and made a fitting end to an excellent trip.
Already planning next year’s adventure.

This was an epic, multi-generational trip for our family. All three grand daughters loved it from the first minute upon arrival. All three of them wanted to sit in the front so they could experience the full excitement. The food was excellent. The guides were professional, personable, hard working and immediately bonded to the kids and adults. All the equipment was top notch. This was truly a trip of a lifetime. I can honestly say I believe Mt. River Outfitters run the best operation on the Salmon River.

Summer of 2019 we did a 100 mile 6 day commercially guided float trip down the Middle Fork of the Salmon river and wanted to continue down the main Salmon for another 80 miles, thus we booked the 6 day trip with Mountain River Outfitters. Even though it was a low water year, the river is magnificent with lots of rapids, wildlife and scenic beauty. Our guides were very experienced, entertaining, hardworking and seemingly knew every inch of the river and how to approach each rapid. The night at China Bar lodge the third day of the trip was definitely a highlight. It was nice to be off the ground for a night, get a hot shower and the dinner was the best of the trip. Overall, the food was ok but not gourmet like we experienced with our Middle Fork trip where we also enjoyed cots rather than a pad on the ground. Also, ice for evening drinks was scarce prior to China Bar but better after, even though they had no crushed ice available. On our Middle Fork trip we had complimentary beer on ice available each evening when we got off the river. With MRO that was not the case and we were required to preorder and pay for our beer. I did just that but it was not packed and I was not told at the meeting prior to the trip, so we had NO beer on the hot 90 degree days on the river. I was later given a flimsy excuse the supplier did not have the brand requested but I know the grocery store a block from MRO office had it and the fact is they made no effort to accommodate us. So in summary, the river is amazing but MRO, not so much. They could and should do much better given the cost of the trip.

I bought my first camping experience, a 3-day camping rafting trip last minute, 5 days before leaving as my schedule freed up. This had been on my list for years. I was not informed on the phone by Brenda that there was an option for travel insurance ir given any suggestion to procure, she gladly took the $1100 and said an email would follow up. I received an email of details 2 days before I left and a note about travel insurance was embedded amongst many other details. I arrived mid an official heat advisory and heat wave. I got dizzy walking down the street in 105 degrees. I called Brenda and asked for a credit for a future trip or refund. There was no way I could do 3 days in this heat 100% outside. I asked if I could do 1 day and come home if it was too much - no. My options was pay for a helicopter lift or flag down a jet boat, pay them and then pay a guide 2.5 hour round trip to pick me up. Those were my only 2 options

I had to walk away from $1100 or risk being stuck in the wilderness of Hells Canyon during a massive heat wave. No consideration of Act of God.

This was a spectacular trip and lived up to all and beyond any expectations we may have previously had. This was a bucket list trip for my wife and I, and without a doubt, the river and scenery were magical, but our river guides with their professionalism, knowledge, and enjoyable demeaner put this trip over the top! Big THANKS to Jen, Cory, Nick, Brandon, Tom, Tyler, and Bobbie. They worked diligently to make sure everyone was having a good time and I was personally impressed with their attention to all the little incidentals. They hardly stopped working the entire time while we relaxed and lounged in comfort. The meals were the best I’ve ever had in a wilderness setting. We enjoyed everyone we met on the trip and that was just another added bonus to an already pleasant experience. It was a vacation we will look back on with many fond memories. I would highly recommend MRO and their staff if you’re looking to have one of the most thoroughly enjoyable times of your life!

The six of us had a great fishing trip in Hell's Canyon with Brian! Even with very high river waters we managed to catch a lot of bass, a trout and even brought in a sturgeon! Brian knew so much about the beautiful canyon and was very informative. He helped us bring in this giant fish for a photo and then it was released. A deli lunch was provided and it was very good. Very nice boat with lots of room. We plan to return again for another fishing trip!

My sons and I took a five-day, four-night rafting trip on the Salmon River in late July. I wouldn't classify it as a vacation, but more of an adventure. From beginning to end, the trip was highly organized and well run. The guides took fantastic care of us. both on the river and off. The meals at camp were excellent and the team always went the extra mile to make sure we were having fun. The scenery was phenomenal throughout the 90-mile trip and we saw a lot of wildlife along the way. This was unquestionably one of the very best trips we've ever taken and I would highly recommend to anyone that loves the outdoors, camping and wants some adventure.

A group of us (6 men) recently went on a 4 day float down the Snake. Could not have been better. Everything about this event was very well planned by MRO and executed perfectly. Gorgeous part of the country. Great fishing. Guides and gear people were very competent and great fun. Food was superb. I would recommend this trip to anyone. I will do this again!

We had a great time hunting and fishing on the Snake River for 3 days. The guides (Peyton and Aidan) were awesome. We caught salmon, countless bass, white fish, and few huge sturgeon. Also had a successful chucker hunt.
The camp was comfortable and the food was some of the best we have ever had (thank you, Aubrey). Our family created some great memories and would highly recommend MRO to anyone wanting to experience jet boating in Hells Canyon.
