Despite the favorable reviews of the other beaches, this one has the calmest water, with no undertow, and the ability to walk out pretty far offshore. With Keegans Bar nearby for casual food and drinks, it is the best place to go, not touristy or...More

Couldn’t believe how quiet this beach is. Hardly a sole on it. Snorkelling was best at the top end closest to Princess Margaret beach. Saw lion fish, small Moray eels, small barracuda and loads more fish. Also found lots of sand dollars and urchins. Wish...More

As per the norm, Lower bay is by far one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. I would recommend Keegans for a drink a bite to eat if you're passing through Lower Bay anytime soon. I had a lobster salad and it was...More

We stayed near Lower Bay and visited the beach almost daily, with the exception of a few days when the surge was quite high. There was never a crowd. It did get busier on Sundays, but was still very enjoyable.

This is the furthest from the main port area of Port Elizabeth- it has several good bar/restaurants and is quite simply beautiful. There are some rocks at certain points restricting entry to the sea, but gaps are plentiful and the sea gorgeous!

Quiet beach with decent snorkeling at each end of the beach. Soft sand, sunset views, several restaurants (Petra’s and Pam’s were great), and bay is calm enough for open water swimming.

Clean and tidy. Visitors were sparsely spread out. Steeply shelving beach. Fantastic views over the yacht haven. Recommended.

We stayed at the north end of Lower Bay Beach for 2 weeks in early December. We walked to/from Port Elizabeth at least a dozen times. It is a lovely walk along the beach ... no need to climb up high to the main road... More
