I've been coming here for years. The staff is always great, the pools are well maintained. They're open late (10 or 11) so it's a fun day trip from Salt Lake City or to stay over. Hot pools in the middle of nowhere have so charm but I love that these pools are all set up with dressing rooms, showers, lockers, etc. The pools go from VERY hot to stay-all-day temps.

I love Lava Hot Springs! Simply put! But all in all great experience, I grew up coming here but hadn’t been in years. The vast hot pool selection is set underneath a beautiful rock wall back drop with pools ranging from 100°-112°. It’s definitely a great destination for a getaway or pit stop during road trip, set right next to a cute little town scape.

A temperature for everyone. Natural hot spring water that flows from its source down to subsequent pools, each one maintaining a specific temperature range. 2 1/2 million gallons of water every day coming from the natural springs and creating this oasis of heat. The high water flow means that the water is exchanged constantly throughout the day. They can completely drain the pools for service, and have it all refilled within two hours. That’s pretty fast. So, the water stays beautifully clean and fresh. Wonderful to have the natural hot tub experience, without the nasty smell of chlorine and other chemicals. This is a state owned facility, with very comfortable improvements. They have pat-per-use use lockers inside the changing rooms and outside on the deck. The floors are heated inside the changing rooms, so no going cold from start to finish. They have family locker rooms available, along with the traditional men and women’s. Most of the pools have shade coverings to block out the sun. All of them have nice amounts of bench and floating areas. The bottoms of the pools are flat rock, or small gravel. All of them are easy on the feet. While water socks are allowed, they are not necessary. Our group ended up going barefoot the whole time, with no problems.

Although it was busy, shoulder season is the perfect time to go. Everyone spread out in the pools and I didn't feel packed. All are respectful of your space.
