    Awesome Experience!
Mr. Angell was so welcoming and it is obvious these horses are well cared for and well trained. Staff was knowledgeable, friendly and helpful! Lexi, our guide, was very sweet and great with people and horses. Horses and riders were matched well (some of us having more experience than others). Directions/expectations were clear as well AWESOME experience!
Thank you for sharing your experience with us and others! We love hearing how great the guides are and how loved our horses are. We are so glad you felt like the horses were matched up so well with the rider's experience. We strive to make everyone comfortable and enjoy the ride! Thank you for the awesome review!

    Much fun.
Our guide, McKinnly, was very sweet and took Excellent care of us. Seemed to love his job. Even my 8 yr old granddaughter and 11 yr old grandson enjoyed him. The chuck wagon was also very good loved the scones especially! The trail made it an exceptional experience. Wish we could have seen some deer but none at the time. Would definitely do it again.
We love to hear that you and your family had such a wonderful time! We especially are glad your grandchildren enjoyed themselves! Sorry you weren't able to find any deer but we hope next you come you'll see some!

    Amazing horse riding experience
What a wonderful find! I booked from the UK having done a Google search of horse riding near Yellowstone and found this gem! We booked as a family of 4 for a 3 hour ride and had Lexi as our guide. We were put with another group of 3 lovely guys and a group of 2 ladies and a gentlemen all from other parts of the USA. The fact that we were the most inexperienced of the group really didn’t matter as the ride was so informal and it was great fun riding along with everyone, chatting as we were going. We did another similar experience in Yosemite a few years ago and this experience far exceeded the last one. Lexi was very relaxed with us all, the horses were great and the ride was just awesome! Lexi is a credit to Yellowstone horses and you can clearly see that the “company” is more than a business - everyone loves what they do and the horses are clearly looked after. We loved it so much that both my husband and daughter took the last availability for a 2 hour ride the following day with Josie in the pouring rain - that’s how much fun they’d had!!!! Josie was an equally good guide and again, a credit to Yellowstone horses.
We are so glad to hear that you and your family had such an incredible time with us! We love our guides and are always so pleased to hear when they and the guests they take out have such an incredible time. Next time you are in the Yellowstone area we would love to take your family out on another ride! Thank you for sharing your experience!

    Great place and great people
My husband and I had a great experience at Eagle Ridge Ranch, we did the 3 hour morning ride and it was so much fun. I have some experience riding so I was worried it would be a little bit boring for me but I had a really good time. We even came back later in the week to bring our kids to the pond. They loved paddling around and catching tons of frogs. We will definitely be back next time we're in Island Park!

Change of pace during week at Yellowstone.
The horses were well trained and friendly. They also appeared to be very healthy and well cared for. Staff was friendly, attentive and safety conscious. The ride was a little wet and windy for us, but still lots of fun. We saw elk and coyotes on the trail. Thanks, Josie for a fun afternoon.

    Great family experience
Did a two hour ride with my wife and two kids. The ranch is in a beautiful setting and easy to find with the directions they gave. Check-in area is nice. There are bathrooms, you can buy water ($1), easy parking. Pre-ride instruction is good and first timers will feel safe. Tucker was our guide and he was great. The ride primarily goes through wooded areas up deeper into the ranch along the foothills. A lot of stream crossings which made the ride more interesting for the kids, but not scary. The views and scenery were really pretty. Overall a nice family experience. Highly recommend.

    Eagle Ridge Horseback
Eagle Ridge is a Family owned and run operation and it shows! The care factor was abundant in the way they treat the horses and the guests. Our ride was amazing, with amazing views and great horses (Shout out to our guide Josie who had a big group w kids and she was spot on taking care of everyone). After our ride (which was one of the best I can remember) we hung out at the ranch swimming and boating for another 4 hours. All in this was an amazing family experience and I HIGHLY recommend Eagle Ridge Ranch. Lastly- My wife and I rode Tetons and Jackson Hole and Eagle Ridge was by far the best!!

We rode horses during the Family Trail Ride in the afternoon. We had a fantastic time! Three families of friends participated. The three moms each took two kids with them ages 5-9. The Dads stayed back with the kids who were under 5 and they also had a fabulous time hanging out at the lake and riding boats waiting for our trail ride to return. On the trial ride we saw 3 deer, a red tailed hawk, and an osprey. We crossed creeks and ponds. We stayed for a couple hours afterward and tried fishing and went swimming. We made a day of it! The only improvements that could be made are possibly a little more instruction prior to the ride. Our kids had never ridden on their own before and though they did amazing, a little more instruction while on the horse may have helped calm some nerves. Also, our group was 12 people plus the guide. It would have been nice to have one additional guide with us, especially since 2/3 of our group were kids who were first time riders. Bring your own bike helmets as the helmets available didn't fit well. The kids all say horse riding was their favorite part of our trip to Yellowstone and the Tetons. I loved it too! We would go on a ride with Yellowstone Horses at Eagle Ridge Ranch again in a heartbeat. It is well worth it and a great value!

Thanks for your response. Ordinarily we do give extra instructions for groups that include several children but apparently it was not enough. Sometimes people tell us that we spend too much time teaching the basics instead of out riding the trails and sometimes, like in your situation, people tell us we do not spend enough time giving instructions. We try to keep a happy medium and I'm sorry that your children were nervous after listening to the guide's instructions. However, I would like to bet that your children came back full of confidence!

On our visit to Yellowstone at the last minute we decided to book a horseback ride for my wife, daughter, and myself, as my 21 yo daughter loves horses. We were lucky to find 3 spots available at Eagle Ridge Ranch for a 2 hour ride the next day.

After signing paperwork that I'm sure made the lawyers happy, our guide gave us a crash course in how to ride (start, stop, turning, and backing up the horse). The day was hot but most of the ride was through a wooded area which made it bearable. The terrain was varied, over some hills and through some small streams. The area isn't beautiful but it was nice, with wildflowers and other interesting vegetation dotting the landscape. We did see a deer briefly but no other animals.

Our guide was friendly and answered questions we had about the horses and the area.

I know nothing about horses but all the horses on our ride seemed even tempered and tolerated the inexperienced riders. I'm sure they knew the way as well as our guide.

We did not do any other activities at the ranch but at the lake (pond?) next to the ranch people looked like they were having fun.

Fun tip: For those of you with cell phones that track your activity put your phone in your front pocket and it will count the steps you ride on your horse. Yes that's cheating. Or maybe it's not.

Loved it! Took 5 kids ages ranging from 6-16. Cowboys taught us how to rope a steer while waiting for the group to all gather. The process of gathering everyone, getting assigned a horse and off to the trail took a bit too long. Once we got going the area was beautiful, we crossed a few streams, passed a lake, saw a deer, the guide was super nice and told us about the area, shared cool details about each of our horses, their names and how they got them. He was very attentive and made sure we were doing well. After the ride we went to the lake, jumped on the water trampoline, played on the rope swing and canoed. There were plenty of life jackets, boats and oars, also picnic tables and lawn chairs. It was a wonderful day!

This ranch is absolutely stunning!!!! The ride through the ranch was breathtaking. The ride is suppose to be 2 hours, but by the time they got all 32 of us on a horse, 25 minutes had gone by. They did split us into 3 separate groups, which made it better, but the system of getting going on time needs much improvement. There was no talk about the sights we were seeing by our guide. He was very helpful when he needed to be, but did not interact much. Another thing that would help improve the experience is if they also put a guide at the back. We had 11 total in our group, and no one was as the back to help anyone back there.

I took my 8 year old daughter for the 2 hour ride, and even tho I am sore today, I could have done a third hour. Josie was such a fun guide. She made everyone feel welcome. I am an experienced rider, and was given a great horse who I really loved riding. Everyone was safe. And by the end of the trail the entire group was laughing together like we've been life long friends. The experience was so great, that my daughter asked if we could make it tradition to visit every year while we are taking our annual trip to warm river. I highly recommend this ride to anyone who is not an experienced rider. It's a perfect meandering ride and the scenery is unbeatable.

My daughter and did the two hour afternoon ride and it was a lot of fun. The horses were well behaved and Logan, our guide, did a good job at letting the group pick there route and kept paid close attention to those that needed the most help. The trails took us through meadows, forest and across a few small streams. After the ride there are lot of other casual activities to enjoy. I would highly recommend for anyone that wants a laid-back adventure and fun afternoon!

We had such a great time at Yellowstone Horses at Eagle Ridge Ranch! We highly recommend for families or people of any age. We took a 2 hour horse back ride and were able to really experience the beauty of the area like never before.None of us had ever been on a horse. Our guide was knowledgeable and eager to help our youngest daughters, ages 5 and 7, feel comfortable during their first time interacting with and riding horses. After our ride we spent time on the ranch exploring, and enjoying the weather while our younger kids enjoyed the water actives, roping pretend cows and catching frogs! We will definitely be planning to come back again this summer to spend more time enjoying the quiet and beauty of this amazing ranch!

We took 8 adults and 4 children to Eagle Ridge Ranch. The place is so great! We enjoyed fishing, the boats in the lake area and then 6 adults and 3 children 5-7 took the horseback ride. They were so good with the youngest in our group. Very instructive and patient. Jason our guide was awesome. The ride was beautiful through the woods and a gorgeous meadow. We then had the cookout which was delicious and the ladies that served it were kind and pleasant. All in all a great day for a large family with a lot of different needs. We have already talked about a return trip. Thanks for helping us make some wonderful memories.

We booked the 3 hour morning ride and it was great! Our guide Britney was knowledgeable and friendly and did a great job of checking in with everyone throughout the ride.
All of the horses were friendly and we saw 2 moose on the trail ride! This was such a special bonus.
We did feel that 3 hours was a little long and we should have booked 2 hours instead. We are not experienced riders and our legs and back were in pain after the ride. Luckily we were staying on the property and could return to our cabin to rest.
The trail you ride on is a mix of woods and open fields so there was a good variety. Would definitely recommend if you’re staying locally in the Island Park area!

After looking at several options for horseback riding while in Yellowstone we chose this establishment. We thought the cookout would be a fun way to end the day. It is a little hard to find but as soon as you get there you are greeted by some wonderful people. They really made us feel like family as we checked in and signed our waivers. The ranch has a water play area with trampoline and swing rope you can enjoy along with paddle boats and canoes. If fishing is your pleasure they have a catch and release pond or if you pay a fee you can keep your catch. We enjoyed feeding the horse in the coral and seeing the others tied to posts. No matter the skill level of rider they had a horse for everyone. The best part was how organized they were getting everyone onto a horse. Due to the number of people there we were put in three groups of approximately 10-12 riders with 2 guides. To mount the horses you stepped onto a stand and right onto the horse. The ride was so much fun as we saw deer and road threw a stream. They don’t run the horses so it is a calm leisurely ride. Upon returning to the ranch we were assisted off and headed to dinner which was truly a delight. The food was excellent and you had a chance to pet the horses that roamed the grass nearby. Overall an excellent activity and highly recommended for people of any age.
