The Waterfall Nest is a unique feature in Idaho Falla. There was still a bit of water running in January. It is right the middle of a roundabout, so it’s not like a feature you can really hang and enjoy for long, but cool to check out - probably much better in the summer months!

This sculpture is in the middle of a roundabout. It may be unique but it is nothing special. In the winter the waterfall freezes and in warm months it flows. I don’t suggest going out of your way to look at it but if you drive down Utah ave, you can’t miss it.

We were amazed to find this beautiful sculpture as we were driving through the area. We came back later to find a place to park so that we could get up close to view it and enjoy all the details of the animals on it. What a wonderful work of art!

I'm a big waterfall fan. This is definitely on my list of all time favorite art pieces for reason alone. Add to it the life-like mountain lion, eagles, real driftwood, and ice in the winter... I'm genuinely surprised that there aren't more accidents around this circle.

Worth a quick drive by to take a picture of this beautiful fountain. Walk around it and check out all the animals and the eagles feeding babies.

Fun waterfall with statues! This is a fun water feature for anyone to view. In the winter it is a frozen waterfall, which is beautiful as well.

It is a beautiful water feature in the middle of a roundabout. There is places to park so stop by if you have the time. I thought it was impressive. Mostly if you are in town.

Disclaimer: I hate roundabouts. Enough said. But this one has taken care of one problem by putting magnificent art in the middle of it.
First, the official name of the sculpture is "The Protector." The sculptor is Vic Payne. This was installed in 2006. But everyone knows it as the "Giant Eagle Waterfall Nest."
You can drive around this sculpture, or walk around on sidewalks. From any angle, it's impressive -- and quite awesome. There's a mother eagle landing at her nest, with two eaglets waiting for her; on the other side of the nest is the father eagle, keeping watch.
Except the wingspan of these parent eagles is 21 feet! And the whole thing fills the middle of the . . . well, anyway.
Others have commented about it, summer and winter. We saw it in the winter, when there was plenty of ice and some snow, but the waterfalls were still there. And it's truly an awesome sight to see. Think about the skill of the sculptor, not only in making realistic representations, but in putting the darned thing together! That pap eagle that's soaring? He's got to be very heavy, and he's connected to the base somehow through the end of one wing. That's some serious physics, right there!
I'm not sure this is worth a diversion into town -- as others have said, "it's just a roundabout." True. But if you're in Idaho Falls, you should make a point to see it. Park somewhere nearby (there's plenty of options there), and take half an hour and walk all the way around it. It's impressive.
Thank you, Vic Payne (the sculptor). This is magnificent!
