Today, together with our visitor from England, we spent half of the morning at this beautiful garden with its magnificent variety of tropical plants. The colours, the scents of the flowers, and the smells of the spices were an endless treat for the senses. And our young tour guide, Shaun, was superbly knowledgeable and his passion brought everything to life. We were lucky enough to know the founder, Lawrence Lambert, for several years before his untimely death, and he will always be hugely missed; but with this level of enthusiasm and passion his legacy should continue to live on as a tribute to him. This is a really wonderful way to spend a couple of hours, and an excellent way to learn about the delights of tropical plants.

We also had a tour from Shaun (Sean?). He was incredibly knowledgeable about the huge variety of plants they had growing at the garden. We also met some tortoises (pictured). I’d recommend to everyone!

The tour was great but Shaun himself was amazing, I know he has big ambitions and I really back him to achieve them!

Palm Tree Gardens was a shore excursion option offered through Celebrity Cruises. Our group enjoyed a pleasant stroll through the gardens as the guide explained multiple types of primarily palms and some flowering species.

The gardens are, indeed, mostly palm trees. If you're thinking more floral type (as I thought it would be) these gardens this might not be what you're looking for. That said, views are stunning and the guides excellent.

One other note: the gardens are built into a hillside where steep slopes and steps involved. While someone with a cane can do, you'll need to be very stable and agile with it. Do not attempt with walkers or more severe mobility limitations --we had one woman who'd had a major leg injury and simply couldn't navigate much at all.

Thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Shaun who was extremely knowledgeable. Well worth visiting. A little tricky to find. We hope it continues to operate despite the owner sadly having died.
A most delightful morning and everything beautifully labelled

Chose to visit given a number of reviews and web recommendations and we were not disappointed.

Tours are by appointment only, bookings can be made by email via their website and Lawrence was very quick to reply. Getting there is pretty easy as the Laura area is well sign-posted and you will not be disappointed. Lawrence takes you on a personal tour of these hillside gardens. You will see everything, numerous Palms and vines including the Caribbean Garlic Vine, Bougainvillaea, many spice trees, fruit trees (we picked and ate Star fruit) as we navigated the various nutmeg shell and bamboo paths that took us to the different areas of the garden. There is plenty of interaction from being passed leaves to smell and to guess what they might be, before finishing the tour an hour or so later on his verandah that looks across to the sea.

Everything is labelled which is useful when looking back at photographs but it is the sheer passion of Lawrence that cannot be faulted that makes the tour so interesting as he explains how he has developed the garden since 2007.

If you’ve only time to visit one garden in Grenada make it this one.

We have now paid 3 visits to these beautiful gardens which are the work and love of one man Mr Lawrence Lambert. We are seeing the changes as we visit each year and the maturing plants, there are numerous plants to see not only the 40 odd different palm trees. I think it would be fair to say that Lawrence has a particular favourite which is the fox tail palm. The gardens are well worth a visit and the knowledge Lawrence has about all the plants is extensive. We will be looking forward to returning to see any changes and the continuing maturity of the gardens and of course to see Mr Lambert again.

We didn’t know what to expect, and were thrilled with our experience. Mr. Lambert, the creator of this beautiful place, gave us such an interesting tour, with the names of almost 250 varieties of trees, shrubs, flowers, and spices. He also had interesting comments about many of the plants, where they were from, how they came to Grenada, etc. this is obviously a labor of great love for him, and a gift to all who visit. It is a high point of my many visits to this beautiful island.

We had a wonderful visit to the Palm Tree Gardens. My husband is not a gardener so he reluctantly agreed to go for my sake. However, he is so glad he went. We booked an appointment so we could have a tour with the owner, Lawrence Lambert. We knew Lawrence from our stays at the Flamboyant Hotel and he always went above and beyond for us then....and no different now with Palm Tree Gardens. A wedding party was just leaving as we arrived and certainly it would be a photo venue par excellence. Lawrence's love of palms and plants is infectious and his knowledge of over 200 (at least) plants and palms along with their history and origins is impressive. As well, he is so warm, hospitable and fun to be with. We asked for a restaurant recommendation - he mentioned the new Spice Isle Restaurant 10 mins. away and it did not disappoint. Lawrence lived in Toronto for many years and we shared remembrances of the Pape library and other Riverdale landmarks. Thanks Lawrence!
