Private Tour from Montego Bay to Negril Beach and Rick's Café

1 review
Experience the beauty and tranquility of seven miles of uninterrupted white sand beach, savor the sun, and throw off all inhibitions. The Experience starts with a scenic ride along the coastline. We then make our way over to Negril Beach. Spend a few hours relaxing at the famous Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville located in the center of Negril’s pristine white sand seven-mile beach. Participate in the wide array of water sports activities or just stroll up and down the beach at your leisure. <br>As we make our way to Rick’s Café, take a short drive through the village of “Red Ground” for a close-up look at the Negril Community and life behind the scenes. At Rick’s Café enjoy a live reggae band and a party atmosphere as you watch the spectacular sunset and daring cliff diving.

Palm Tree Gardens was a shore excursion option offered through Celebrity Cruises. Our group enjoyed a pleasant stroll through the gardens as the guide explained multiple types of primarily palms and some flowering species. The gardens are, indeed, mostly palm trees. If you're thinking more floral type (as I thought it would be) these gardens this might not be what you're looking for. That said, views are stunning and the guides excellent. One other note: the gardens are built into a hillside where steep slopes and steps involved. While someone with a cane can do, you'll need to be very stable and agile with it. Do not attempt with walkers or more severe mobility limitations --we had one woman who'd had a major leg injury and simply couldn't navigate much at all.

This is a beautiful garden! Most plants are labeled. Nice walk through gardens! It is very near Laura's Spice and Herb Gardens.

Today, together with our visitor from England, we spent half of the morning at this beautiful garden with its magnificent variety of tropical plants. The colours, the scents of the flowers, and the smells of the spices were an endless treat for the senses. And our young tour guide, Shaun, was superbly knowledgeable and his passion brought everything to life. We were lucky enough to know the founder, Lawrence Lambert, for several years before his untimely death, and he will always be hugely missed; but with this level of enthusiasm and passion his legacy should continue to live on as a tribute to him. This is a really wonderful way to spend a couple of hours, and an excellent way to learn about the delights of tropical plants.

After the loss of the gardens founder, his children have fortunately decided to continue his legacy by keeping the garden open to visitors. We had a full tour of the garden, taking about 75 minutes, from their very knowledgeable gardener / tour guide Travis. This is a young garden, planting only starting in 2007, after the destructive Hurricane Ivan had hit the island two years before. However plants and trees grow quickly in the tropics and there are at least 300 to see on the tour. For the tropical plant enthusiast and for the visitor who just wants to see a wonderful display of colour, this is an excellent garden to visit. It's accessible a few miles inland from St. George's, but for drivers not confident on windy, narrow roads, use a taxi or local excursion company.

We had a brilliant visit led by Shawndex who was very knowledgeable about all the different plants. A great diversity with over 40 different palms, all looking so healthy. Lots of good looking plants for sale - lucky folk on grenada being able to source such good plants. If you are interested in plants this is a must!
