My tour mates were all asleep that Friday morning and at early dawn I sneaked out of Hotel Cristallo and walked nearly half a kilometer to Lido Beach. Arriving at the beach, I saw a beautiful clean beach with gray sand. My constant companions were a handful of seagulls warming themselves with the cool morning sun rays. I did my... More

Some of the hotels have their own stretch of beach with their own changing cabanas and restaurants for which there is a charge or is part of the hotel extras, however at the end of the 'main street' from the waterbus station (10 Min walk) there is a free beach and no charges made unless you want to hire a... Lovely place to enjoy the beach, it is clean, not crowded and a big area. Nice to get away from the tourist. Loads of vaporettos going to Lido so it is easy to reach.

Just discovered that Venice actually has a decent beach on Lido island. Nice white sand and beautiful water. Lounge chairs/huts are a bit expensive to rent, but just bring your beach towel and enjoy. Accessible by vaporetto (water bus). Lido island is a great day to spend while in Venice.

You just use your Waterbus card and go to Lido by Line 1. Then you walk across the island, about 800 meters (you can take a cab), and suddenly you are standing at the gate to a wonderful free beach. The beach restaurant (Blue Moon) even has gluten-free pizza. I loved the swimming and playing in the surf even in... More

Lido Beach is fabulous, its free however you can hire a lounger and umbrella for 2 peeps 27 euros, that just makes it better, DO NOT buy the beach sheets from the sellers there cheaper in the town. Morning on the beach afternoon in Venice how great is that, having your cake and eating it.

As Venice is packed full of tourists and cruise ships, we decided to take the ferry from S. Zaccaria Pier (just past the Bridge of Sighs) to one of the less bunged islands within the Lagoon, Lido. It was a straight 15 minute walk from the ferry pier to the beach. The beach is a long stretch of white sand... More

Definitely a must go for beach lovers. It's the only beach near Venice with just a short vaporetto ride from the main island.
