You are just going to hate the whole area. There are too many lakes, trees and stuff like that. And the river...oh, brother. I mean, who needs to see a river actually flow into a lake anyway? Sheesh. Just go back home and tell everybody...More

First, the correct spelling is St. Joe. The river is clean and wonderful for kayaks and canoes. Parts are okay for motor boats. The river is accessible by boat from Lake Coeur D Alene.

Soooo many visitors come the CDA not by car, but by motorcycle. Since we moved here, we've learned first hand that one of the most beautiful (and short) rides is around the lake, down to St. Joe's river and then back to the lake. It...More

Fantastic place to visit. It takes a while to get there from Coeur d' Alene but totally worth the visit. Good campgrounds and the fly fishing is excellent. Plan for any type of weather in the summer or fall.

Nice views and the river itself is pretty neat in concept, being the highest navigable river in the US. Not much else at the overlook and marker other than the river, so this is a short stop. Nonetheless, it is a worthwhile stop. Maybe even...More

The St. Joe River is scenic and peaceful. Good camping areas along the way, and friendly people in the area.

I live in St. Maries overlooking the St. Joe River. It is near and dear to my heart. From the crystal clear running rapids upriver to the lazy water flowing through St. Maries and into Coeur d' Alene Lake. What else can I say?

Many places for dispersed camping depending on what part of the River you want to be on. BLM has a nice campground on the lower ST. Joe named Huckleberry. From I90, go south from Walace, great drive on good dirt and gravel... More

Yes. The water is not extremely fast and has some places that are shallow. I have floated it several times.
