I'm 73 years old, 5'10", 260 lbs, with a left knee replacement. (One year ago.). The idea of an e bike to get more active with low impact has appealed to me for a few months. On 10/2/20 I rented a step thru 48v Pedego with a 7 speed Shimano shifter. The Pedego store in downtown Boise is perfectly located to the famous greenbelt where you can ride along the Boise River for many miles. The rental service from the Pedego staff was excellent from beginning to end. My anxiety /concern about whether or not this would be a good experience quickly evaporated as my ride with my son (who was on a 21 speed street bike) progressed. The electric assist was fabulous! I had a half day rental starting at 11:00. Upon receipt of the bike my son and I immediately had breakfast at the Mexican restaurant next door. Highly recommend this restaurant! Fueled up we headed west along the river making frequent leisurely stops to better stretch out the 4 hours so as to not overexert my son. On the way there are several great places for adult refreshments. We chose Joe's Crabshack on the return trip. Entry from the bike path with patio seating where we could keep an eye on the bikes without having to lock them up. Perfect! In total we probably rode for 1.5 hours which was plenty for my son who as a casual cyclist said his legs were pretty tired. For myself, I peddled out getting as much exercise as I felt comfortable with using a mix of no peddle assist and peddle assist. On the return I mostly used the electric twist throttle with very little peddling. I was so pleased to return much fresher than my 35 year old son. Bottom line- one of the most fun, satisfying things I have ever done. BTW - the battery level indicator still showed full at the end.

Early September weekend in Boise, the Pedego shop was adjacent to our hotel and open on Sunday, thus an easy choice. We reserved our 2 e-Bike's on Saturday and showed up Sunday morning raring to go. The entire rental process was seamless, the bikes and equipment (mandatory helmets and optional bike lock) top notch and the price very reasonable. A quick orientation and we were off for the next 4 hours. With the batteries fully charged, we didn't even come close to depleting them returning with over 70% charge remaining after 22 miles along the Greenbelt. I highly recommend this shop and the Pedego e-Bike for a fun filled day around the Boise area. I would definitely rent here again upon returning to the area.

Excellent way to spend a half day - bikes were comfy and we rode for nearly 4 hours straight! We could have kept going if the bikes weren’t needing to be returned. It was totally worth the $50 half day fee per bike. These also reached 22-25 miles easily in the areas away from the green belt, it was awesome. Helmets included and a pack on the front to carry water bottles and snacks. Highly recommend!
