If you are in the area walking, this makes a very fun walk. Artistry is very beautiful, but I do not think it is something to go out of your way for. It is an Alley. There are people smoking, and garbage along the walk....but disregard that and you do get some pure street art that has a lot of soul. I truly did enjoy.

My 2 daughters and I rented those Lime scooter and went all over in this area. Freak Alley is a hidden gem that is never the same twice. The artistry and the style really needs to be experience at least once. Go see it.

All of the greatest artists from days past would find something to enjoy here. There is talent everywhere you look and their skills are very evident on the walls of this alley. Everywhere you turn you see more. This goes past graffiti to Fine art.
We thought that this was a Very worthwhile find and hope you do also.

While touring downtown Boise we stumbled upon this alley. They have all different styles of artwork and graffiti. It was a free way to experience the culture in the area. Beautiful murals and the kids had a good time.

Interesting to walk thru this actual alley and look at the art work painted on the side of the brick walls of the buildings sides facing the alley. Preferred walking thru it during the day just because visually it was easier to see the details of the artwork. Keep in mind this is street art…

Very cool artwork that is tucked away in an alley between 8th and 9th and Bannock and W Idaho. I just happened to pass it and it caught my attention, so I walked down the alley to check out the art. Some pretty crazy and freaky (as the name implies) murals. I assume it is local artists, so this is a good way to display their work.

My friend wanted to drive home through Boise specifically to see this place. We drove by and thought it was really small & debated about stopping since we were in a hurry to get home (several hours to drive still). I am so glad we stopped. From the street it looked like one little painted portion but once we were there we could see it was so much more. Such great art! Lots of colors. We took so many pictures. It was definitely worth the stop.

I had seen this attraction's reviews many months ago and made a mental note to visit when I had the chance. After lunch at P.F. Chang's, I decided to fulfill that mental note.
Sadly, I was disappointed by the artwork in Freak Alley. Yeah, I should have expected an influence from the drug and hard rock culture. However, I thought I would like at least some of the artwork. Well, there were 2, or maybe 3, paintings that I liked -- and one of those was a country scene on the east side of 8th Street, which is probably not even part of Freak Alley!
I walked the length of the alley, hoping to see something worthy of attention; unfortunately, I continued to be disappointed in the overall experience.

Definitely different. The artwork is pretty amazing. Even if it's not your style (which for me it's not), you can appreciate the hard and creative work. If you're wandering around downtown, wander through Freak Alley and enjoy the art.

Visiting Freak Alley feels like stepping into a living canvas. The alley stretches for nearly a whole block, making it a must-see spot for art lovers or anyone exploring downtown Boise. The atmosphere is alive with creativity, and each wall tells a unique story, ranging from fantastical creatures to social commentary pieces. The art changes on an annual basis so you are likely to see different art each time you go.
I also recommend that you walk around at least a couple of times!! we did that and I noticed something different each time. You could easily spend a hour just walking around and taking in the art.
