As we we're strolling in beautiful downtown Boise we decided to look in the Capitol Building. Not only is it a beautiful building but the self guided tour on the history of Idaho was very interesting. We traveled a large part of the state after thus visit and now had information on certain areas.

Ok, so I am from California and we have really tight security at our capital building. It wasn't here! We walked right in and wandered around. I even walked on to the senate and house floors! It may not look great on the outside but it is very pretty on the inside.

Not very different from other western capitol buildings, but very well kept, with native beauty and several interesting pieces of art. The chambers were fully accessible (out of session) and the basement held a wonderful display of history. One of the best free experiences available! Beautiful grounds, and the Governor just happened to be hanging around the day we were... More

The building is a masterpiece in marble. We were able to tour various places on all 4 main floors. Learned quite a bit about Idaho history. Particularly enjoyed the gardens outside planted with drought tolerant species.

Enjoyed walking around and checking this out. We were allowed to just wonder around and take pictures. We went into the house and senate chambers. Sat in chairs and took pictures. What a wonderful treat. There is even a tour you can take using your smartphone. You can scan a code and watch YouTube videos as you walk along. Very... More

A beautiful, historic building, lovingly restored, that's very inviting to the people of the state (especially school and civic groups) and that truly merits the title of "the people's house". Yet every time I visit it causes me to wonder how so much unfortunate -- sometimes ugly -- behavior by the Idaho Legislature can take place in such elegant and... More

The building was closed when we arrived but we walked around the outside and the grounds. It looks like a great place to visit - and the area around it is nice too.
