The museum is currently housed in a temporary building since they are remodeling the real site. It is a small collection of exhibits but worth visiting. It had many interesting things to see. Free.

We went to the Idaho Historical Museum when it was "The Museum comes to Life" with reenactment by local people dressed up in period costumes. This was such a wonderful experience and I plan to attend it again. It made the museum more entertaining and interesting for sure.

Abutting the Julia Davis Park, The Discovery Center, and the Boise City Zoo, this museum features rich displays covering the history of the city of Boise as well as the State. The displays are well thought out and filled with lots of information regarding the displays. There is ample parking, as it shares parking lots with the Park. Entry price... More

Really wanted to see the two headed calf but arrived on a Saturday. The museum is closed on weekends. Very disappointing. Surely a lot of tourists miss out??

An historic retrospect of living in early Idaho from the beginning of it's culture and all the decades of evolving into a place the whole family will enjoy. Awesome and time well spent.

Delightful afternoon spent walking outside in beautiful Julia Davis Park. Lots of entertainment at the Bandshell with Marimba, Irish dance, Chinese dancers, Ballet Folklorico performing, and Ellie Shaw singing great 1950's swing-era jazz. There was Jousting and Armored-men matches. Strolling historic-dressed characters such as Ben Franklin and Davy Crockett. Tents with historic dress from Medieval, Colonial and early Idaho settlers.... More

When we were in Boise we went to the Idaho Historical Museum, but discovered it was going through renovation. We did get to see some of the outside exhibts. At the Idaho History Society Adminstration Office Building, which is by the Old Penitentiary area of Idaho, they did have a free and excellent exhibit to see there on President Abraham... More

The presentation of artifacts in this museum was very well-done. They have areas set up like a saloon, parlor, school, etc.
