The few reviews I read do not do this beautiful bike trail justice. On a hot August Monday we stumbled upon this gem on a cross country trip with an overnight in Boise. Newly paved with great spots along the way—bridges, underpasses, lovely parks and a few restaurants to name a few. There are rentals of scooters for the trails and kayaks and tubes for the river. We enjoyed watching them all on our bikes. There are two places at least that we discovered hydraulics in the river- one man made where so many were surfing and one with many kids that were getting great rides on boogie boards. We had a really great and inexpensive healthy meal at the Sandbar which just so happened to have a live Jazz band on a Monday night. We so wish we had more time to kayak the River here. Also, so many others enjoyed lovely natural places to just wade in and swim, picnic or sit on small “ beaches” along the shore. There is a beautiful and clean swim spot at a pond near Idaho River Sports. The store rents kayaks, SUP and more. What a beautiful area!

The greenbelt adjoins the Boise River through Boise. It is accessible from several locations. My favorite area is near Boise Downtown and includes al nice parks, the Boise State University Campus, the Boise Zoo and a kids exploratorium (fee entry). A great place to get some exercise and picnic next to the river. Only negative is lots of geese which are messy.

While staying downtown on a first-time visit to Boise, we rented electric bikes ($60/4 hours) from MCU Sports and rode to the Greenbelt about 5 blocks away. Very scenic and well-maintained paved path on both sides of the river with several bridges connecting back and forth. Great lunch stop at the Sandbar Patio & Grill. Very fun activity downtown.

The city website states that there are many shops and eateries on the Greenbelt, but I did not find that to be the case. It's a paved path with trees on one side and the backs of buildings or the college on the other. I was a bit disappointed as I thought there would be more to do than just a path for exercise.

We stayed at the Grove Hotel and they lent us cruiser bikes. The path is just a few easy blocks away. It was not crowded at all apart from the odd jogger or pedestrians. Just felt good to pedal, get some fresh air and look around. We stopped to return to our hotel right around Garden City, which looked like it would be a great stretch to hang out at on a weekend (it was a weekday). Fun to watch the "surfers" on the river at Garden City. We ran out of steam but would love to return and go farther one day. Only complaint is that certain stretches/underpasses are under construction/blocked off for no apparent reason and it's kind of a pain to figure out how to go around and get back on.

This is a marvelous bike ride. In fact, I would rate it as my second-favorite ride in the United States, exceeded only by the carriage trails in Acadia National Park. It's paved, it's tree-lined, it does not have extremes of gradient, and the people (and dogs) we encountered were all respectful and friendly.
We live in Park City, Utah—with a vast and wonderful trail system—and the Greenbelt is a more enjoyable trail than anything we have at home.

In the middle of a city you don't expect to find a beautiful place to walk or ride your bike. But this is a perfect spot in downtown Boise Idaho for just that purpose. Families, couples, and individuals were all in joining this beautiful space when we visited. This is a beautiful spot and Boise should be proud of it.

We loved our bike rides on the Green Belt. It is very well maintained and people are just happy there. There are walkers, bikers and runners. We even saw people fishing, paddle boarding and surfing! So much fun and it's just simply beautiful everywhere. It is a very safe place to be and you never have to cross roads. There are bridges and tunnels everywhere so that you don't have to! There are no difficult hills, climbs, etc. It was easy riding. We stopped at several places of interest and learned so much about the city. Always take bikes when you travel to Boise!

We enjoyed walkign on a portion of the Greenbelt near our hotel. While strolling after dinner, we saw tons of runners, bikers and tubers enjoying the river. Gorgeous trees, parks and nature everywhere. What a wonderful thing for the city to have, and would encourage you to enjoy using it on your visit to Boise.

Lovely walk along the Boise River. Be sure to visit the Human Rights exhibit in Julia Davis park. Geese congregate in the park and leave their calling cards on the lawns and walkways.
