This was a bucket list vacation for our family and what a trip it was!! We had the best family summer vacation (even during Covid!) thanks to MFA! They were so professional and took full precautions during this crazy time! We went with one of our best family friends and made life long memories. You cannot beat seeing such a beautiful part of remote Idaho this way. The scenery ad wildlife are amazing, as are all the campsites you will stay. at Just getting away and enjoying the beauty of the middle fork in and of itself is worth going . But, MFA makes it even more fun, I could have stayed another 6 days! We feel like we had the A -team crew on our trip! Our team leader Pat was a blast and kept everyone in the know about what to expect each day. We also want to thank David, Daniel, Ben, Chloe, Sarah, Jared, Valerie who were all amazing. They all worked so hard for all of us. Everyone always took good care of all of us and always with big smiles. The food was amazing at every meal and we never ever went hungry! The crew really went the extra mile to get to know everyone and engage. We had teens age 13-16 with us and it was perfect...we had them unplugged and they enjoyed every minute in nature and with family/friends. `!The crew always made time for fun adventures for the kids (but we all joined in) including cliff jumping and stop for slip and slide on the bottom of one of the boats. They were cool with the guys playing their instruments at night and Valerie did a great job putting up with our fishermen everyday! If you are considering taking this trip...DO IT and DO IT with MFA. They will treat you like family and you will have the time of your lives. Even waking up at 6:30 am is ok when Daniel is softly signing his coffee song to rouse you! This was definitely a top vacation for our family we will never ever forget. It was sad to have it end which is a sign of a great trip I guess! Thank you Middle Fork Adventures for helping us make lifelong memories!

We’ve traveled a bit and the MFA rafting trip (on the Middle Salmon in the Frank Church Wilderness area) is in my top 3 vacations. The guides feel like family by the end of trip...just great people who all had a passion for the outdoors...plus they work their tails off. We really unplugged on this trip since it is one of the last true wilderness areas left on the mainland. Food was GREAT! Trip included several hikes (optional), in which we experienced hot springs, waterfalls (one is spectacular), cave drawings, and fantastic scenic views. Trout Fishing (optional) was also great as far as numbers of fish caught. Tons of opportunities to swim and cliff jump. We also had some great social time after dinner, which included some games and other fun surprises. The guests were from all over, from diverse backgrounds and were multi-generational...from around 5 years old up to the 70s. You can spend your time on the river in several ways: fishing while the guide rows; floating/chilling/“taking it in” while the guide rows; paddling with other guests and the guide on a six person oar boat; paddling with other guests while the guide rows (in a slightly bigger boat the paddle boat); navigating the river by yourself on an inflatable kayak (my favorite). River is fantastic...pristine wilderness. There was no trash, no power lines, no commercialization and basically nothing else on the river but your group (I think we saw two different groups briefly on our entire trip). The Middle Fork River is a special place. Highly recommend the MFA group (we had Ally as trip leader, Dan (he is the co-owner), Sara, Chloe, Ben, Zach, Gino, and Pat)...they are just the best!!!

Wow! What an incredible trip for my family of five (kids 10, 12, 12). We rafted during the first week of August and it was perfect. The rafting was both relaxing and exciting and my kids loved playing on inflatable kayaks, jumping from cliffs, and burying themselves in sand during the lunch breaks. The food was amazing. And the guides - I cannot imagine a better group of guides. Somehow they balanced making us feel safe and protected with keeping us entertained with giving us space to soak in the beauty of the Frank Church wilderness. Every person on our trip expressed sadness when it was over and would have stayed another week (or more!) if we'd had the chance. Well done, Middle Fork Adventures!

The tl;dr version is that I got to go on a really amazing rafting trip with my grandpa down the Middle Fork of the Salmon "River of No Return" for 6 days, 5 nights thanks to Middle Fork Adventures. It was awesome in every way. I gave it a 5 out of 5 and my grandpa, who's not afraid to point out when things need fixing and has seen the world, gave it "at least a 9 out of 10". I'd recommend both the river and specifically MFA to anyone. The long version: I've had it on my bucket list for a while now to go on at least one adventure with my grandpa. He's 82 and has been to every state and like 75 countries including most of the top sites the world has to offer. He's rafted a few of the good rivers in the US including the Grand Canyon. My grandpa had it on his bucket list to raft the Middle Fork of the Salmon "the River of No Return". He grew up in Idaho in the general area, but had never rafted that section. In early March when he said that he was looking into rafting the Middle Fork (6 days, 5 nights) and needed a partner, I jumped on the opportunity to go on one of his great adventures. I hadn't heard of the Middle Fork before he brought it up. Turns out it's 6 days, 5 nights, 100 miles, and 100 rapids through the largest contiguous wilderness in the lower 48 (Frank Church Wilderness of No Return). We took the trip the 2nd week of July. Hopefully someday I can share the trip with the rest of my family. It was amazing to truly disconnect from the rest of the world for so long. First time in a long time for anything more than a day or two. To just be immersed in the beautiful river and terrain of the wilderness was so relaxing and enjoyable. I've spent a lot of time with my grandpa in my life (he even let me live with him for a year), but this was a very special experience to get to know him better and to share a unique experience together. What's more, I still learned a ton about his life and adventures as all of the other guests and guides from around the country and world spurred new stories, questions, and answers I hadn't heard before. I'm pretty sure that the highlight of the trip for him was seeing me tipping my inflatable kayak on my last run with them. 😀 He'd been clamoring to see me go in all trip, and finally got his wish. It was fun trying out all of the different types of boats. The inflatable kayaks mentioned above, the paddle rafts, and the oar boats. Something for everyone depending on what you wanted to do and how adventurous you are. Another first for me with this trip was seeing how quickly you can form great friendships and bonds with a group of fellow adventurers from all over the world (furthest was a father and his 10 year old son from Australia). Maybe we were just lucky to have such an amazing group of people, but I honestly can't emphasize how great everyone was. Really made some great friendships, even if just for the week (hopefully longer though). Everything about the guides and the way Middle Fork Adventures did things was top notch. Their character, rafting and guiding abilities, thoughtfulness and mindfulness, and kindness were all right at the top. They worked all day and night to provide a great experience as we camped along the way and they somehow made the most amazing foods along the way (of all of my Gpa's rafting and other guided trips, he said that these were the best guides and best food he's ever had).

I have boated the Middle Fork of the Salmon River 23 different times. The vast majority have been private trips where we did all the work. This was a new experience for me as I did absolutely nothing except enjoy another great river experience. The guides were great, experienced and had excellent knowledge of the river. The food was excellent (I gained four pounds on the trip) and everything was even better than I expected. I highly recommend Middle Fork Adventures for a wilderness river experience.
