Our first mistake was following our GPS directions to the park — which took us on the road behind the park — which has an entrance, but an unsigned entrance — so we drove right past the place. Also — the park offices are technically across the road from the park so campers check-in with a 40’ RV and a... More

We came to hike and geocache around the park. We found a lot of geocaches with great treasures in them. The trails are marked well and in good condition.

We stayed at the FDR campground the second weekend of April. This was the tail end of spring break so the campground was still full. We had mixed feelings about this campground compared to others we have visited (keep in mind we camp at least 12 times a year). When you first arrive, you have to go up a steep... More

Noting to shout about. Beautiful overlooks but nothing to shout about. We were not impressed! The best view was Dowdell Knob. Picture below...

There is a life size statue of FDR seated on a CARSEAT which his secret service men would set up for him to sit, enjoy the view and ponder solutions to problems facing the country during his presidency. You will also see the stone grill built for FDR because he liked to have cookouts at this site...where the food was... More

Loved the museum at this state park! Saw FRD's old cars equipped with hand controls so he could drive, a unique collection of canes, a wheelchair he made from an old kitchen chair small enough to get from room to room in his vacation home, and an unfinished portrait the day he died. The Little White House, his vacation home,... More

FDR State Park has always been a favorite. The Pine Mountain Trail is worth every step. It is however a bit noisy at times, there is a great deal of air traffic mostly small aircraft but unavoidable in Georgia. They could use a litter pick up as well.

Good drive from Warm Springs, in car or on foot, great vista views at a number of pull-offs, Also visit Dowdell Knob to see the sitting bronze of FDR and local of his picnic area.

Had been to see The Little White House and ended up on top of the mountain. It is so beautiful from the drive to stopping along the way at look outs. Plenty of hikers today. The lake was beautiful and the yellow cast of pollen was just slightly in the air. Great day for a walk in the park!

Website indicates that check in is at 1pm. We wanted to get first choice of sites, so we arrived at 12:30 on a Friday and were allowed to check in early. Not many sites are on the lake itself but we found the perfect one for us. Camping in a van has its benefits! We had a lot of visitors... More
