I stopped at Horse Creek Winery on the way home from a conference. I tasted four wines. The Merlot and Chardonnay were surprisingly good for (north) Georgia grapes. No bite or instant acidity - quite easy on the palate. I was very pleasantly surprised by the Jockey white. Although muscadine in origin, it was smooth and pleasant and not overly sweet. The Winnersville was a dessert wine, more typical of muscadine. I purchased two bottles each of chardonnay and Jockey, and one merlot and Winnersville. It was definitely worth a pleasant stop, and the quality of the wine was very good. I recently returned from tasting the wines of New Zealand, and Horse Creek measured well among three of the wines I tasted. Winnersville would be more of an acquired taste for many, especially those from outside the South. It would still be good with peach or apple pie as a dessert wine. The young woman server (Cathy/Kathy), was very knowledgeable and had previous experience working in wineries, interacting well with customers. Travelers would do well to stop for a half hour, stretch their legs, and enjoy a tasting.

We stopped here for a tasting. The wines are great - especially the Pino Grigio which was among the best I’ve had. Madison, who served us, was very knowledgeable about all the varieties, the history of this winery, and types of grapes they use. We certainly enjoyed our visit. So glad we stopped.

we were travelling in a camper toward Hiawassee and decided to stay overnight at the winery. What a pleasant stay. Nick was our host and was excellent serving up samples and telling about the wines and area - very pleasant. You can access them on Harvest Hosts to stay a night. there is ample, level parking. We would recommend and will stay there again at some time in the future. The wine is surprisingly good for the grape variety.

I have NEVER encountered such lack of knowledge by the hostesses at a winery, and I've reviewed ones from FL to CA. Was here many years ago, when a middle-aged woman actually knew something about the wines she was serving. We were the only ones tasting. We were rushed, not ONE word about the wines that were poured into a 4-flight holder. Wines were unremarkable. Came back with different people the next day. Again, we were rushed. She poured a wrong wine for one of us, said "Oops," and discarded it! Haven't had this happen often, but the server always said they made a mistake, try it & see if you like it. One that was not available was a Merlot blend. I asked if they had a Merlot. Answer: What? I repeated Merlot. She said she had no idea what a Merlot was.... These workers needed training....a LOT of training. Also, there were RVs/trailers both times that were taking up several parking spots. There needs to be a separate area for them (there is room). Also #2: people brought dogs inside & had them off leash outside as well. Some of us are allergic to dogs and/or don't appreciate dogs running up to us, as you never know how they will behave around strangers.

We stayed here for 1 night in our RV as part of the Harvest Host program. Right next to the freeway so there was a lot of noise but it worked for 1 night. Unfortunately the winery was closed for remodeling but they were still selling wine slushies and bottles of wine. There are restaurants and Walmart close by.

We usually stop here on the way to Florida. I love wine and always buy it. Today the attendant was awful rude.

I guess if you’re an Arbour Mist fan.. no, you’ll still be disappointed. Wine is awful! Not a true winery. Out of some wines because of the fires in California 🤷‍♀️ Right next to the highway, about 1 acre of grapes covered in flies and bees. Very disappointed!

Staff were friendly and helpful. We traveled with our pup and had a perfect stay. Breakfast wasn’t the normal breakfast due to COVId, however they still had a great selection to choose from on a grab and go.
