This is an excellent way to spend the day alone or with family climbing the stairs to the lighthouse, visiting the museum, and watching the boats go by. It has educational exhibits in the keepers house. This is the second lighthouse that was built since...More

You purchase your tickets in the gift shop and then walk in to the museum of the lighthouse. You can walk around the top on the outside of the lighthouse. Very of ocean, St. Simons and Jekyll Island.

It's a beautiful lighthouse that is easily accessible and has a nice parking lot. Having hiked out, sometimes for miles, in rough terrain to visit some lighthouses on the southeast coast, I found this to be a great one to visit.

Loved it that the docent was available, but not in our face. Museum was great -wish more lighthouses had one! Recommend a display of how the Fresnel lens works.
