Came by here to meet a friend to celebrate his birthday recently. My first visit. The menu is fairly extensive, but the people behind the bar are helpful and will let you try something you are thinking about. The beer itself is very good and fresh. They have just about everything you would be looking for as far as beer selections. I will be back.

They have a huge projection TV for games, good seating indoors, outdoor seating is available but not as many options, and they usually bring in food trucks. The beer is good, not the best in the ATL area, but solid. The bartenders were great and turned me onto this old world IPA that was pretty good.

Went to the taproom over the weekend and came away disappointed for the following reasons: 1. We had to pay to park. This is the only brewery that I've paid to park at in the metro Atlanta area, ever. There may be some free parking somewhere, but if there is I didn't see anything about it on the website and it wasn't in the front (upper level) where most people are coming in. That's a paid lot. 2. It's open air, and it's really too hot in June for that. There are fans in the covered part near the bar, but that's insufficient in the summer. 3. There were TONS of kids here. Just tons. And minimum 15 dogs. You know how that goes - some are well behaved, others aren't, and of course some customers just want an adult-only place to relax and drink their beer. 4. There isn't enough seating on a busy day. The tables in the covered area were full up, so our options were to either sit at a picnic table (with no umbrella) in the blazing sun or stand in the covered area. We stood the entire time. 5. Staff seemed exhausted and over it in general. No staff was rude, but they weren't overly friendly and didn't really have the time to be. I felt sorry for them because there didn't seem to be enough of them to handle the crowd. 6. There IS a second smaller building with air conditioning, BUT there was a class of some sort going on there and no one posted anything on the door or otherwise outside about it being a private event, so several people tried to go inside to get out of the heat and were fairly rudely evicted. The beer here is fine. The location is right in the center of downtown Roswell so it's convenient for people already there or living nearby. Judging by the large number of people there, many are totally happy with lots of kids and dogs and no place to cool off on a hot day. I'm just not one of those people.

Misty, First of all, thank you very much for coming to Gate City last weekend. We understand that there are plenty of options out there and yet you came to us, so thank you for that! Now, please accept my apology on your experience. Last weekend was kind of a disaster all around. Our GM was hospitalized for a severe migraine and our second in command had a seizure which caused him to fall and break his arm. Add to it that it was Fathers Day and we were giving away a free pint for visiting Dad's (which added to the number of kids visiting) and it just became too much for our remaining staff to handle. Please give it another shot and hopefully you will have a better experience. In fact, let me buy you a pint the next time you in. Please email direct (brian at gatecitybc.com) and I will make sure you are taken of. Thanks again and we hope to serve you again soon! -Brian Borngesser
