There is a very real reason this wonder winery has so many five star reviews; it’s true !
After passing the winery sign for too long we stopped in today. Just north of Clayton is this unpretentious family run winery. Offering a wide variety of reds, whites, and sweet wines, each in their own right well made, delicious, and enjoyable.
Whatever your taste is in vine, they produce it. This winery focuses on wine, simply producing great wines, and coupling them in a beautiful mountain setting, and enjoyable tasting experience.
No big gift shop, no wedding venue, no restaurant; no big buildings simply wonderful, enjoyable wine ! How refreshing and how wonderful.

I'm a single man you'll never get service anywhere no difference here. One girl acted like I was bothering her. The other girl had a huge sandwich from Ingles she was about 50 lb overweight anyway.. she was very interested in her sandwich but she came in the door she started yelling and screaming about somebody parked in the handicapped parking place.. I am handicapped and did not appreciate it.. so the service is atrocious the wine is not much better it is not with the trip.

I'm Sorry that your experience was less than you expected. I do however find your review hypocritical in that you stated you were offended by being called out for parking in handicap parking ( I'll assume your permit/ pass was visible) while as you state you are handicapped, however you criticize someone for "appearing" to be "50 pounds overweight"

Quite an operation. Tasting room. Beautiful grounds. This is an over 21 property so no children allowed on the grounds. A little pricey but really great tasting southern wines. Worth the visit down a scary narrow mountain road.

We enjoyed all of the wines. Reds were amazing! We had the Barbera and had to get another bottle to go. The best part of the experience were the 2 girls that were behind the bar. They were so much fun that we didnt need to go anywhere but the bar. We could have stayed there all night.

We stayed at the Dillard House so this was right down the road.Mike and his wife were so friendly and even their dog came up to greet us We tried many wines and bought about 6 bottles. One great thing about this place is the bathroom, the sink is made out of an old player piano. The wines are very good .We will be back again next time we are up there !!!

And it's a great one. Good variety of wines and gifts. Dry and sweet flavors to please every palate. Reasonable pricing. The owners, Mike & Lisa pretty much built the whole thing themselves, including the deck and tasting room. Great way to spend an afternoon; Walking thru the vineyard, looking at the bee hives and chickens, or sitting down by the creek. They plan to have entertainment outside under the covered deck. Be sure to say "Hi" to their dog, Samson.

After a disappointing lunch at the Dillard House, I am so glad we went a little further down the road to the 12 Spies Vineyard. What spectacular mountain views - I could have sat there all afternoon. They have a lovely covered veranda and additional lawn chairs around a firepit. The staff were very friendly and helpful during the wine tasting. We took home a bottle of the "Bless Your Heart" Muscadine - very tasty. They also had other cute items in their tasting room/gift shop. We were there on a Saturday afternoon and they were very busy - we had to wait for seats around the tasting bar but it was well worth it.

We decided to make a weekend out of the Saturday wine tasting with 3 local vineyards. What a beautiful place built by owners Lisa and Mike who with friends take care of everything. For $10 we got 4 tastings and a plate of food plus local music. Back porch area was lovely to sit in. We were given a tour which we found very informative. Did you know that planting roses at the end of the vine rows help alert of any problems with the vines? Local bee hives in the back but they weren't selling. Nice tasting bar and shop. We really liked the Temptation Traminette and now sorry we only brought two bottles. It's not far from the main highway inbetween Clayton and Dillard. Regular tastings are only $6. Don't miss the unusual bathroom!

We visited 12 Spies and fell in love with it. The main reason? The wines. I love visiting wineries in Georgia but rarely fall in love with the wines. 12 Spies' wines are great. Each of us bought wine to take home. My favorite was the Temptation Traminette. I usually don't like Chardonnay but loved theirs. My friends like sweet wines and loved the Muscadine wine. I will say that it tasted just like a muscadine picked off the vine. Very nice. Everything was good - reds and white. The owners were very nice and I love the new arbor/porch. A perfect place to sit and enjoy the peacefulness of the mountains and a wonderful bottle of wine. There is a small tasting fee but it is applied to the cost of bottles of wine if you choose to buy - and all of us did. We went home with a 12 Spies wine glass as well.

Thoroughly enjoyed my visit to 12 Spies. Got a personal tour of the winery, a pled some awesome wines. The hosts were so friendly and informative in this family-owned winery. I'll want some of that Cabernet they are about to bottle! Great wine-related gifts, locally produced honey and clever wares for sale.
