Description:

Golfers seeking a real test of their abilities look forward to playing...

Golfers seeking a real test of their abilities look forward to playing 7,057 yard, par 72 Mountain View, designed by world-famous golf architect Dick Wilson. Tight, tree-lined fairways are characteristic of this true championship course. Mountain View was home to the PGA Tour's Buick Challenge for more than a dozen years. One of Mountain View's most intriguing holes is the par 5, number 6 where the threat of water looms over both tee and approach shots. This hole was ranked as the fourth most difficult par 5 on the Tour by USA Today.

Played both golf courses and both were in excellent condition. Mountain View has hosted a PGA Tour event and is a more "macho" course. Lake View looks easy on the scorecard, but don't hit it crooked. If I could only play one, I believe I'd play Lake View. A little more variety and a little more fun. Service was outstanding.

We played the Lake View course 3 times and the Mountain View 2 times. It was very hot and humid all week, but the courses were in great condition. The Mountain course is about three strokes harder, but I think the Lake course is prettier. It took me a while to get used to the Bermuda greens and rough. The... More

We played both the Mountain and Lake courses. Even though the weather was brutally hot, they were in very good shape. The fairways were excellent as were the greens. The Mountain course was harder than the Lake course, but the Lake had some interesting holes. The Pro Shop was very good and the service by the bag boys was great.... More

This is a very pretty place. The gardens are beautiful and we enjoyed the butterfly house. We rented bikes and rode them on the bike paths which go through the garden, probably the best way to see everything ,would have enjoyed it more if we could have gotten a golf cart to ride because there is so much to see... Thank you for your post. We are glad to hear that you and your family enjoyed both the Gardens and the opportunity to play golf. Seeing the Gardens by bicycle or golf cart, aka a Callaway Cruiser, are both great options. But, if the children aren't quite big enough to ride bicycles on their own - yes - a Callaway... More

Try to go every year. Wonderful place to go with your family. Can be pricey but worth it. Stay at the Mountain Creek Inn for best value.

The kind of courses you need to play a few times to know what to do. Very good condition and reasonable rates. Not the easiest courses I've ever played but one was a lot easier than the other. Good and reasonably priced food there too. Nice place to play.

Thank you for your post and for your visit. We appreciate your kind comments. With the Mountain View course hosting the PGA Tour's Buick Challenge 12 times, it is not considered the easiest. But, Cason Callaway did intend for the Lake View course to be enjoyable and, equally important, "to see something beautiful each time" each time a golfer lifts... More

Our weather was not the best, so we didn't get a good concept of what a really nice day on the course would be like. It seemed well maintained and had some interesting a challenging holes.

Lake View is a short golf course, with beautiful views. The water comes into play on several holes which increases the difficulty.

Thank you for your post. We love to hear when golfers have the kind of experience that Cason Callaway intended. He wanted those who played the course to see beautiful things when they lifted their head and to pretty easily know where their ball went (down the course or in the water). We hope get to come play again soon. More

This is one of the top courses you don't want to miss out on playing in the South. This location once hosted the Buick Challenge from 1991 - 2002 for a total of 12 times. Callaway Gardens has two courses, The Lake View and Mountain View, the PGA tournament was hosted on the Mountain View course. In the last few... More

Thank you for your post and for spreading the good word about Callaway Gardens golf. It seems like its almost kept a secret. We are proud to have hosted the PGA Tour's Buick Challenge 12 times. The spot on the tour was rough due to some years with lots of rain (and we mean LOTS) but the economy created havoc... More

Now I am not a golfer but I was amazed by these well kept greens and grounds. Even in January, they are well manicured and ready for the next "putter.: This has to be a great place to relax and play your game but also convene with nature. This is a perfect addition to the gardens. It was great to... More
