Description:

Golfers seeking a real test of their abilities look forward to playing...

Golfers seeking a real test of their abilities look forward to playing 7,057 yard, par 72 Mountain View, designed by world-famous golf architect Dick Wilson. Tight, tree-lined fairways are characteristic of this true championship course. Mountain View was home to the PGA Tour's Buick Challenge for more than a dozen years. One of Mountain View's most intriguing holes is the par 5, number 6 where the threat of water looms over both tee and approach shots. This hole was ranked as the fourth most difficult par 5 on the Tour by USA Today.

Beautiful butterfly garden.

The butterfly garden is the highlight of Callaway Gardens. This was our third visit, and we always enjoy it.

This was the best part of our trip here. We played both courses and enjoyed them equally. The course is beautifully maintained, and we found it challenging but fun (we're not great golfers). The roughs were high and there are woods everywhere, so we reached a record for lost balls, but it was worth it as the scenery is just... More

Thank you for your visit and for taking the time to post. Golf has been a part of Callaway Gardens since before the Gardens actually opened. We are glad that you enjoyed playing and your time spent at Callaway Gardens. We also appreciate your kind words about our team. Great Southern hospitality is what we strive to provide. We hope... Played both golf courses and both were in excellent condition. Mountain View has hosted a PGA Tour event and is a more "macho" course. Lake View looks easy on the scorecard, but don't hit it crooked. If I could only play one, I believe I'd play Lake View. A little more variety and a little more fun. Service was outstanding.

Thank you for our post and for sharing your experiences about playing golf at Callaway Gardens. Our founder, Cason Callaway, wanted the original Lake View course to be straightforward and beautiful. We think he was successful and we are glad that you enjoyed it as well as the Mountain View course. We hope that you are able to visit and... More

We played the Lake View course 3 times and the Mountain View 2 times. It was very hot and humid all week, but the courses were in great condition. The Mountain course is about three strokes harder, but I think the Lake course is prettier. It took me a while to get used to the Bermuda greens and rough. The... More

Thank you for your post. Summer in Georgia can be humid - so we are glad you persevered and had fun. Our founder, Cason Callaway, wanted the Lake View course to showcase something beautiful every time you lifted your head from a swing. It sounds like he was successful. We thank you for your patronage and hope that you can... More

We played both the Mountain and Lake courses. Even though the weather was brutally hot, they were in very good shape. The fairways were excellent as were the greens. The Mountain course was harder than the Lake course, but the Lake had some interesting holes. The Pro Shop was very good and the service by the bag boys was great.... More

This is a very pretty place. The gardens are beautiful and we enjoyed the butterfly house. We rented bikes and rode them on the bike paths which go through the garden, probably the best way to see everything ,would have enjoyed it more if we could have gotten a golf cart to ride because there is so much to see... Thank you for your post. We are glad to hear that you and your family enjoyed both the Gardens and the opportunity to play golf. Seeing the Gardens by bicycle or golf cart, aka a Callaway Cruiser, are both great options. But, if the children aren't quite big enough to ride bicycles on their own - yes - a Callaway... More

Try to go every year. Wonderful place to go with your family. Can be pricey but worth it. Stay at the Mountain Creek Inn for best value.

The kind of courses you need to play a few times to know what to do. Very good condition and reasonable rates. Not the easiest courses I've ever played but one was a lot easier than the other. Good and reasonably priced food there too. Nice place to play.

Thank you for your post and for your visit. We appreciate your kind comments. With the Mountain View course hosting the PGA Tour's Buick Challenge 12 times, it is not considered the easiest. But, Cason Callaway did intend for the Lake View course to be enjoyable and, equally important, "to see something beautiful each time" each time a golfer lifts... More

Our weather was not the best, so we didn't get a good concept of what a really nice day on the course would be like. It seemed well maintained and had some interesting a challenging holes.

Lake View is a short golf course, with beautiful views. The water comes into play on several holes which increases the difficulty.

Thank you for your post. We love to hear when golfers have the kind of experience that Cason Callaway intended. He wanted those who played the course to see beautiful things when they lifted their head and to pretty easily know where their ball went (down the course or in the water). We hope get to come play again soon. More
