Each year, Callaway Gardens offers it’s spectacular “Fantasy in Lights” event. It’s a wonderful ride through two miles of lighted woods and lakes with music playing throughout. Afterward, get a cup of hot chocolate and shop in Santa’s North Pole home. Fun evening for the...More

The Callaway Gardens Fantasy in Lights is a wonderful way to spend the evening with you family and friends. My wife and I took our 2 year old son and despite 40 degree highs and heavy rain, had a great time! They offer a variety...More

My family visited the gardens to see the Christmas lights. The gardens themselves were beautiful - even in December. The grounds are well maintained and there was plenty of things to do and see for the whole family. We will definitely be back because we...More

Our first trip to the Fantasy in Lights was wonderful! They advertise 8 million lights and honestly there could even be more. I loved them. It took us 45 minutes to ride through the gardens with no stopping and it was so fun. The music...More

Change in management seems to have lost the excellence of past years. Still Oohs and Ahhs driving through. Animal creatures, a favorite previous display, was missing. The tent with Santa was warm and hot chocolate as good as reported. Wonderful area for children to play...More

We absolutely loved the gardens, especially the butterfly garden! Such a beautiful area and very educational for the younger ages. It felt like Spring in Winter! We also saw the Fantasy of Lights. We rode the trolley, which was a bit cold, but still very...More

NOT, I Repeat, not worth the money. Half the lights don't work. Poor animation and music you have to roll windows down to hear. miles of area with no lights at all. will not recommend to anyone.

Fantasy in Lights was FABULOUS! We also visited the Butterfly Center and the Little White House. We truly enjoyed our stay.

I'm sure I will not say anything here that hasn't already been said. Beautiful well-maintained gardens for walking and a nature center for learning. Plus the butterfly center is magical if you like such things.

Callaway Gardens Friday Farmer's Market (2 Replies)
For the past few years, Callaway Gardens has offered free admission to Robin Lake on Friday afternoons so that people can visit the Farmer's market. I believe admission was free after 5 pm but not before. As the season is about to start, I wondered if they have maintained this policy. On the website it states that there is a $5 per person admission fee - but they have stated so before and never actually charged anything. It certainly seems silly to charge people money to purchase...More

I've ready most of the posts and it seems the restaurants on the Callaway property are either not very good or over priced or both. how far do we have to drive to enjoy a nice glass of wine with a reasonable priced good meal?

Also for southern buffet lunch go to the Bulloch House in Warm Springs. They also have a great seafood buffet on Friday and Sat. nights.

Charleston - Savannah - Atlanta (15 Replies)
Hello All! We (my wife and myself) are planning a 8 day vacation early November and before detailed planning, would appreciate your inputs as to the general timeline and main attractions. We want to travel on a leisurly pace and get a taste of each place without trying to "see it all". Our initial thoughts are: 3 nights Charleston: Historic District, Magnolia Plantation, Middleton Place, Edmonston-Alston House, Aiken-Rhett , and leaving time for shopping. 2 nights Savannah - not fans of...More

Hi lirsun, Looks like a great trip... may I suggest a tiny amendment to your itinerary and throw one more destination in there as well. Add a night's stay between Charleston and Savannah in the historic community of Beaufort. There is plenty of history and charm in town, and there are some excellent bed and breakfasts. You can explore Beaufort in the morning and head out to Hunting Island State Park in the afternoon to head to the beach and discover the true natural splendor of the...More
