I did not know that there was a section of this cemetery dedicated to this period of U.S. history. If you are an avid watcher of horror movies you would be very surprised to find out the Oak Hill Cemetery is a top filming location for Hollywood! To avoid the confusion regarding closed entrances, I would stop at the visitor... More

I love visiting Oak Hill, especially the Confederate section. Newnan was a Confederate hospital town and also the site of the Battle of Brown's Mill, a decisive Confederate victory. There are brave Confederates from every Southern state buried there.

Take a walk around and enjoy this cemetery on a pretty day. Pretty tombstones and lots of history here.

Many old gravestones. Also, a lot of people playing Pokemon Go. It was difficult to find the entrance, many of them are blocked off.

I've visited cemeteries before and don't see the attraction.I happened to be near this one and walked around for a bit.Not morbid or creepy just mostly it seems like a waste of land.

Found some of the most interesting headstones I've ever seen. Inscriptions on many of them were well though out by family members. Also found my cousin's wife buried there. The confederate section was a nice tribute.

We recently had the honor of placing flags at the graves of service members for Veteran's Day. I've driven past this beautiful cemetery for the past 12 years we've lived in Newnan, and I've always been intrigued by it, but never stopped. Not only is it a beautiful setting, but the history represented there is profound. It certainly made me... More

Oak Hill features graves from the Civil War and even earlier in downtown Newnan. Walking tours for a fee are also available with an abundance of local history to be shared. Newnan is the city that Sherman DID NOT burn as it was a hospital town. Small skirmishes took place nearby including the Battle of Browns Mill featured with its... More

This is a beautiful final resting place with some of the most historic markers in the state. My grandmother and great-niece are side-by-side. It is well maintained and very peaceful.

My family is not from Newnan but we have people who are closer to us than my own family buried there. Oak Hill is a place of peace with well-maintained grounds. Often you will find families not just visiting loved ones' resting places but enjoying leisure walks together. Furthermore, many of the residents' names are linked to Newnan's city streets... More
