i have hiked around Sope Creek several times. There is such a tremendous amount to see and do! The hiking trails are lovely, the creek is beautiful and cool. Lots of people splash in the water there. The mill ruins are hauntingly beautiful and a...More

Lots of trees, rocks, roots so watch your step. Easy hike, not too strenuous. Saw a 4 foot black snake right off the trail. Ruins very cool. Fun to wade in the water but I'd avoid drinking or getting it in your mouth/face etc. A...More

Family fun but bring water to drink! Have sturdy boots to protect your ankles. Sun screen and bug repellant is also a good idea.

my dog and i love this walk, plus it is the right distance and challenge for my girl friend too, who has a bad knee.

Several paths, some shared with bicycles. Heavily wooded with varying terrain, from relatively steep to flat. Lots of tree roots and eroded areas, so watch where you walk. A great area to hike on windy or especially sunny days because the trees will moderate both.

Lovely trail with varied terrain. Small lake and nice creek with big boulders for relaxing in the sun. Connects to a flat trail that goes along the Chattahoochee River. There are bike trails and walking trails. Feels like you are in the mountains not in...More

Sope Creek Paper Mill was a huge paper mill complex that once lined both banks of Sope Creek in Marietta. A covered bridge which crossed the creek near the mill admin offices was burned by the mill workers to slow the advance of Union Troops,...More

I was blessed enough to have grown up in a neighborhood that actually backs up to the Sope Creek Trail. But even if I didn't live so close, I would have made a pretty decent drive just to come hike these trails. You are never...More

I have to disagree with the yes votes. Soap Creek is known to rise quickly and unexpectedly. The dry rocks are suddenly slippery and if you don't know where to walk, you can get hurt. I've seen this happen twice.
