Open to one and all, the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir was inaugurated in August of 2007 after only 17 months of construction time utilizing 1.3 Million volunteer hours. The Mandir is comprised of 3 types of stone (Turkish Limestone, Italian marble, and Indian pink sandstone). More than 34,000 individual pieces were carved by hand in India, shipped to the USA and assembled in Lilburn like a giant 3-D puzzle.

We live about 1.5 miles from the BAPS temple and watched its construction as it went up one piece at a time. It was constructed and carved in India, then shipped here in pieces and reconstructed. There is no mortar in the exterior as all of the pieces are interlocking. It is a beautiful piece of architecture which can be... More

I was in Atlanta looking for something to do. Thats when I got a recommendation to visit this amazing temple. Upon arrival I was immediately impressed with the outside water feature leading to the temple. Once inside I couldn't believe the intricate stone carvings and architecture. It is a fairly small tour but you can still spend some time here.... More

We are not Indian but we wanted to visit this place because online it looked so beautiful. We followed the rules and only took pictures outside of the temple. We were unable to go inside because we were not Hindu or Indian. I forget we live in the Un-United States of America. Other groups of people do this too just... More

You get transported to India, a genuine indian temple entirely built according to ancient indian craft sits in Lilburn. Too bad it is surrounded by local shopping malls and other urban sprawl. Would have been even nicer surrounded by pristine greenery.

Breathtaking, beautiful mandir in Lilburn. I enjoyed going here to worship and meditate. Large structure, beautiful craftsmanship, lots of birds singing in the trees on the grounds. large outdoor water pool/fountain area. It's like being in India. Lots of people come to this sacred place so expect a bit of a line. There is a self guided exhibit inside that... More

For the Hindu visitor, this review might be unnecessary. However, I am not Hindu so I noticed things through my own lens, and I could imagine that being helpful. I brought a group of students and had scheduled a guide like their website advised. This was so helpful! we got some history both of Swaminarayan, the founder of the BAPS... More

Wow, SO peaceful. Never seen such detail marble design work in my life! Definitely a must-see. Wasn't over-crowded with tourists or people. Really beautiful place.

Visited the temple in the morning hours and there were literally handful of visitors. The architecture of the temple is marvelous and the fact that they shipped the entire temple in pieces from India is mind-blowing. Inside the temple is also magnificent. However, all Swaminarayan temples in US seems to be alike. Allow yourself sometime to spend here. It feels... More
