Open to one and all, the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir was inaugurated in August of 2007 after only 17 months of construction time utilizing 1.3 Million volunteer hours. The Mandir is comprised of 3 types of stone (Turkish Limestone, Italian marble, and Indian pink sandstone). More than 34,000 individual pieces were carved by hand in India, shipped to the USA and assembled in Lilburn like a giant 3-D puzzle.

A visit to the BAPS Mandir is like a time travel trip to India. The entire structure was handmade by artisans in India according to their thousand-plus years of religious and cultural traditions, then disassembled and reassembled on the site in Lilburn. The attendants are gracious and knowledgeable. Gratuities suggested. Modest dress required and no shoes to be worn inside.

Great hand carved marble Hindu Temple. They welcome all cultures and religions. The food at the Shayona cafe is great.

What a beautiful place. It's jaw-dropping. We went in just before a prayer service and it was a really lovely experience. The people there were so welcoming. The grounds and the building just radiate a very peaceful and awesome (in the old fashioned sense of the word) feeling. The story of how it was built is something unto itself. Afterwards,... More

The Hindu Temple is such an incredibly beautiful place. Words cannot describe just how magnificent it is! There ate tours given and a brief history of its construction. It was fascinating. We felt very welcome and you could feel the deep love and respect that went into this Temple. Please respect that it is a very special and sacred place... More

We live about 1.5 miles from the BAPS temple and watched its construction as it went up one piece at a time. It was constructed and carved in India, then shipped here in pieces and reconstructed. There is no mortar in the exterior as all of the pieces are interlocking. It is a beautiful piece of architecture which can be... More

I was in Atlanta looking for something to do. Thats when I got a recommendation to visit this amazing temple. Upon arrival I was immediately impressed with the outside water feature leading to the temple. Once inside I couldn't believe the intricate stone carvings and architecture. It is a fairly small tour but you can still spend some time here.... More

We are not Indian but we wanted to visit this place because online it looked so beautiful. We followed the rules and only took pictures outside of the temple. We were unable to go inside because we were not Hindu or Indian. I forget we live in the Un-United States of America. Other groups of people do this too just... More
