Walking the grounds and gardens beneath the huge trees draped in moss is like being in a fairy tale. Each of the buildings has a family history and the entire gathering is something that couldn't be reproduced today. You can really experience American history here.

Just try and imagine yourself dressed in appropriate dress for late 1800's to early 1900's attending teas by the beach or dinner at the club. A place where history was made, deals were brokered and romances started. A place where the people were so important that during WWII Germany put a submarine off shore but within range of. A place... Although I had been to Jekyll a couple of years ago for a convention, my friend had not been there in 30 years. Jekyll is so beautiful and welcoming. Be sure to stop by the visitor center and speak with the friendly staff who are eager to share knowledge. I would not have know about the 350 year old plantation... More

Very well maintained area of the island that gives views of the well-to-do and their beach lives of times past. Very quiet and shady paths lead you from one area to another. You can also ride bikes through the area. A couple of eating places available for lunch and dinner in the area.

If you like history; this is the place. We tried to visit a few shops that said they were open but went there and all closed up.

This is a glimpse into the lives of the rich and famous at the turn of the last century. The very rich established a club for their winter vacations. Their 'cottages' are unique structures that reflected the tastes of their owners and their fabulous wealth. The museum is well worth the visit and is free. For a few dollars, you... More

The big dollar robber barons of the Gilded Age had to have a place to winter, right? This is where they wpent the winter out of the New York, New England and mid-Atlantic winters. Come and see how they 'slummed' in their winter cottages, as opposed to their 'summer homes' in Newport. J.P Morgan, several Rockefellers, Crane and Porter all... More

Absolutely love this place, so many nice old houses and other buildings. My family and I stay in the campground, and we ride our bikes to the historic district
