This is a wonderful lodge, restaurant & location. My problem this year with the lodge is they always hold a Christmas tree & Christmas wreath decorating contest that the community participated in & anyone may bid on the entire display. They usually have numerous beautiful...More

Helen is a cheesy town that needs a lot of touching up. The State Park is the only thing worth seeing. It was beautiful and cheap to get into. And the few dollars you do spend is worth preserving beautiful land.

David Norboge is an absolute gem! Best service that I have ever experienced within a state park system. We arrived this past weekend with a large youth group expecting a late arrival and a wash out with a heavy dose of forecasted showers. David went...More

The journey to the views was worth it! Make sure you have decent shoes and water bottles to drink. I truly enjoyed myself. So beautiful! Pictures don't do it justice you have to see it for yourself!

November was a perfect time of year to visit this area. The leaves were beautiful and temperatures mild. There are lots of trails and cabins nearby. We seem to always escape to this area come fall for a good reason. Lots to see and do...More

this was our second time to the falls. Lovely hike thru the woods and just a bit steep at the end but oh so well worth it. And if oldsters can do it so can you. Just lovely and not to be missed.

Yes they have three different types of cabins, one, two and three bedroom types. They have very unique shaped barrel cabins on the east side of the lake. All areas have grills.

What other activities/attractions/restaurants are a must see in this area? BTW, I will be with my husband and kids 8 and 11 yrs old. Thanks in advance.

The Gold museum and gold panning in Dahlonega is good. Also a walk around town in Helen which is in the form of an alpine town. While in Dahlonega check out the Smith House for a southern homestyle meal.

Unicoi, Oktoberfest, and ??? (6 Replies)
In a couple of weeks, my husband and I are going to drive up to Unicoi State Park on a Friday to spend two nights at the campsite there and then stay the third night in Helen for the end of Oktoberfest. We visited Helen last year for the last day of Oktoberfest after two days in Chattanooga, and we didn't get to see any of the surrounding area, so this year I wanted to stay at and explore Unicoi and Anna Ruby Falls at the very least. I've looked a lot at the state parks website and realize...More

It seems you have done your homework & pretty much have it covered between Unicoi, ARF, & Helen. It's about a 16 minute drive to Dukes Creek Falls & Raven Cliffs from Unicoi. Both of these places might be worth a look while in the area. Have a great time & be safe hiking:)
