This place was recommended to us so we did some research and went with this company. We rented a 32ft boat for half the day. The boat holds 15 people, no pets allowed. It had an indoor area that was supposed to be air conditioned but we couldn't get it to work. We told them on return. It would've been nice to have but really wasn't necessary on a breezy boat ride. They have a table to eat at, a small refrigerator, and a bathroom on board. There's even a slide that goes off the top of the boat. We took about an hour ride to find the Ozark house then found a place to anchor nearby. We were able to find some islands that we anchored near and swam to and hung out there around two hours. Then we packed up and headed back for the last hour. It was a great experience. You will need to take a boater course with the company even if you already have a boater's license. They have a lot of things for you to sign and you are even video recorded reading a waiver, but it was all fine. My only recommendation to the company would be to have an option for 6 hours. We went with the 4 hour option because we felt like 8 would be too long. But after doing 4, we felt like 4 became a little rushed for what we were doing. I think a 6 hour option would be perfect. But, we had an awesome experience and if we ever come back to Lake Lanier, we will be renting from this company again.

Rented a 18 person party boat for my birthday June 11th. Everything went so smooth and easy. Brandon did our orientation and helped us get set up. He was going as fast as he could so we could get our full time on the boat. Kayla Cooper and Tyler were amazing when we returned the boat. Quickly inspected it and helped us get stuff of the boat so we could head home, I'll defiantly be back. The service was great from checking in to guiding us back to the port.

We rented a 10 sleeper houseboat for the week so our family (3 kids (20,15 & 5), parents and grandparents) could enjoy the beautiful lakes and beaches. I want to start by saying we had a fantastic week, boating, sunbathing, lying in the jacuzzi, sliding, tubing and jet skiing. The boat is made up of main sitting/TV area with 2 seater sofa (sofabed), flatscreen TV/DVD and satellite TV and helm, dining table (4), kitchen with bar area seating 2, 1 bathroom with shower, basin and WC, 1 half bath with basin and WC (only 1 small rail in each bathroom, no hooks for hanging wet towels, however boat does have plenty of bath towels), 2 upper bedrooms, each sleeping 2 on a full mattress and 2 lower bedrooms also sleeping 2 each. Each bedroom has a small (1.5" x 3.5') cupboard with no shelves in which you can store your clothes. The upper bedrooms then have use of the top of this cupboard for books/cups/whatever, the lower bedrooms at least have a foot wide shelf running the length of the bedroom, which provides more storage space. All bedrooms are a bit tricky for the person sleeping inside to visit the bathroom during the night! Up top there is a nice sized sunbathing area, slide, bar with 4 fixed stools, jacuzzi and covered seating, as well as the upper helm. The boat also has a BBQ. However ...
Whilst overall the boat was acceptable and plenty big enough for the 7 of us, we had generator problems on a couple of occasions, one of which meant we spent the night without a/c, which was extremely uncomfortable, the toilets didn't function properly and in fact one night (at 3am!) they caused the charger to run down and set off the carbon monoxide warning system. Loud beeping causing everyone to wake up. The boat was also stated to have a 'fully equipped' kitchen but this is definitely not the case, although it does come with a large fridge/freezer, which was a boon. Whilst it has the basics required to cook and serve food, there were no serving bowls/plates for salad, no corkscrew (we had to buy one) and initially our can opener didn't work, although they brought us a functioning one and a plastic bowl. There were also no wine glasses (plastic or otherwise), not a big problem but would've been preferable to solo cups! Despite the deck having been hosed down there were cobwebs everywhere and the patio table definitely needs replacing. It is my opinion that their entire fleet is 'tired'.
However, the boys that work at the marina and ferry you out of the port were helpful, cheerful and basically couldn't do more for us. Really nice lads. Whenever we had a breakdown (ie generator) we radioed in and someone was despatched in a swift boat immediately (except the night the generator went down, but it was midnight and we didn't put a call in until the morning).
Would I book a houseboat again? Definitely.
Would I use Port Royale again? Possibly not.
Did we have a fantastic week (despite the hiccups)? Absolutely. Houseboating is a leisurely way of seeing the lakes, BBQing and chilling out and spending quality family time together. Everyone had fun on the slide, my boys fished from the beaches catching plenty of Catfish and Crawpy, but unfortunately no Bass! We soaked up the sun on deck and lounged in the jacuzzi, we BBQ'd at least twice a day and enjoyed an evening drink watching the sun go down.
We also rented a power boat and did some tubing, which was excellent fun and then a couple days later we rented a jet ski, which all my boys loved. Both rented craft were also from Paradise/Port Royale and were in excellent condition.
Be warned the weekends are busy busy on the lake, but during the week was lovely and peaceful. Also for those that don't know, jetskis are 'thirsty' machines!

1. The bathroom in the boat was stinking. We complained about it and the response we got back was - such things happen. Then entire journey we had to stay with the stink of the bathroom. Even when we went swimming, as we swam close the boat, the stink of the bathroom make it very un pleasant. What was upseting was not the stink but the response we got - it happens. Really? We were charges $600 for a boat with a stinking bathroom and it happens?
2. The weather conditions needed us to rebook the boat. The service would not allow us to until last minute. We had to drive 3 hours to check in with them and only then they would cancel the service. This is the most unreasonable expectation from a customer. Fortunately for us it did not rain after 3 hours of drive for rain check and we ended up boating. They were not considerate about it.
I would not rent from them again. If you xo rent - be prepared for last minute weather change as they do not pay heed to any weather.com predictions. Also be absolutely prepared for a stinking bathrooms in a boat and responses like "it happens" when you complain about it. Furter no trash cans near the boats. You will have to carry all your trash all the way to parking which is at least 10 minute walk

Great service. The boats they have to choose from are very nice and maintained very well. They have good hours to choose from for renting. They do require you to watch a video and take a short online course that can be done before you go there. They also have a good restaurant at the marina. It's a tad pricey but good.

My family and I have rented a boat just about every week this summer on Lake Lanier. We have found the employees and management to be NOTHING SHORT AWESOME!!
We have rented both the 20' pontoon and the 18' runabout. Everything went smoothly from rental, to safety check, to getting our equipment and returning and refueling.
We had a mechanical issue the last time we went out (no fault of theirs, these are rental boats!!) without me asking they comped me a free half day for later this summer!! Probably next week!!
They have a very well trained, young staff that you can tell enjoy their jobs and do whatever they can to make sure you enjoy your day on the lake! We'll be back more this summer and summers to come.

This was our first house boat rental, and let me say first that the staff at Paradise Rental Boats were great. The 55' house boat we rented had a few shortcomings however.
The review of the boat prior to leaving the marina pointed out a few minor things that were scratched or dented - usual wear and tear. One problem (that didn't seem severe at the time) was the rear sliding glass door that must be used to go to the upper deck, was a bit difficult to open and close. Once out on the lake however, the door came completely off of the track 6 times during the week, and nearly fell on one of our teenagers. We brought the boat in on Wednesday to the dock so we could rent a pontoon boat for the day and do some tubing. I mentioned the problem with the door and asked if someone could look at it to fix it, and was told someone would. The door was unfortunately not fixed and continued to be a problem. I know this may sound minor, but again this door is the only way to the upper deck of the boat and is literally opened and closed 100 times a day.
The gas grill was adequate, but had to be manually lit with a lighter or matches, which we fortunately had. The grill was also VERY unstable and nearly collapsed several times when trying to use it. The door on the front of the grill also fell off completely and nearly hit my foot.
The kitchen is fairly well stocked, but a few items were missing which you will want to have:
Coffee maker - luckily we had a french press, but another boat was heard on the radio that also had to come back to the marina because their coffee maker was missing also.
Cutting board - not wanting to cut on the counter top, this is a necessity.
Drain plug for the sink - without this it was difficult to do the dishes.
More dish soap - there is a dish soap dispenser, but there was very little in it.
All in all, we had a great time, but in the future I think we'll shop around. For $600 a night, the maintenance and upkeep of the boat was underwhelming. And given there were no other boats rented when we arrived, we (incorrectly?) assumed that this boat was one of the better ones in the fleet.

Coming to GA from PA and having never rented a boat at Lake Lanier (or any lake) previously, I went with Paradise based on recommendations from several others who'd used them. We rented a pontoon boat from them for a quick ride out to Two-Mile Island. I couldn't have been happier with the experience! Robbie was great in taking our reservation by phone and explaining everything, and when we showed up, Brian was extremely helpful and answered all our questions and gave a thorough explanation of the boat and its workings.
Paradise is the only Lake Lanier rental company who owns (versus rents) their own dock and hence, they are there 365 days a year from 9:00-5:00 - perfect if you want to visit in the off-season as we did. A friend attempted to rent a kayak from another Lake Lanier rental company last October, and was extremely disappointed when he showed up to find nobody around and the phone unanswered after driving down from PA!!!!
If you are not an avid or experienced boater this could be a daunting process - these guys made it VERY easy! I hope to get back in better weather and make a day of it sometime!!
Tip - take the safety video ON-LINE before you arrive - it will save you time and get you on the lake faster!

I rented the 32ft Mega Cruiser for my daughter's 16th B'day, with her and some friends on the water @ Lake Lanier. The boat was clean and had no problems. The pier has a restaurant there as well to make it convenient to complete your day.

We have rented boats from Paradise Boat Rental at Lake Lanier, on many occasions over many years. This year, so far, we have rented a 20 ft party barge for our entire family and grandkids also renting a tube. All had fun, the water was great, except for the last 2 hours, we were way down near the dam, and the kids were swimming in the water. When they came back on the boat, the ignition switch broke.. So we called and sometime later a mechanic arrived and put a new ignition switch in, by the time we got back to the docks it was getting dark , so we left instead of stay on the water. On our next visit, which was just two weeks ago, we rented a 18ft runabout , and Robbie , after telling him what happened, threw in a set of skis for our use.. Next week we will be renting a jet ski. On all our rentals and trips over several years, we have had fun on Lake Lanier using Paradise Rental Boats, the staff is well trained, and they are all very courteous.. the system is well organized. They are working on more parking which is badly needed at Lake Lanier.. Keep up the good work and customer service and you will have life long customers from our entire family!

Has anyone ever rented a boat--pontoon--having never driven a boat before? If so, how does it compare to driving a car? I called and made a reservation to rent a boat for a few hours and only realized at the end of our conversation that it doesn't come with a captain and I'll be expected to drive it. Now I'm a bit uneasy and debating cancelling.

Hey Elle,
Great question! You’re not alone. Most Renters have never driven a boat before. After completing our online safety course before arrival, and attending the hands-on Driver’s orientation at check-in, we’re certain you’ll be ready to Captain the boat!
