Stopped here during our stay in Ellijay. Was a bit concerned by the bad review I read about it being really dirty but I can say that it was not. It had rained the day before but none of the animals were living in filth. This is not a petting zoo but there are plenty of cute goats to pet. They had baby calves and some adoptable bunnies on the premises as well. Free roaming wild bunnies were there and across the street were two milk cows. One was Lula Belle. Fat squirrels, cute birds and even a chipmunk were eating from the bird feeder. I loved it! Inside the market were a variety of goat milk lotions and soaps. Also, high quality beef and dairy products. We were able to wash our hands and do some shopping! It was a great experience and I highly recommend you include it in your trip!

Visited the farm when we were looking for something to do one afternoon. After visiting the animals, went inside the store and purchased a rib-eye, NY Strip steak and some ground beef. My daughter also got some ice cream. All were excellent! Will definitely return next time we’re in the area.

I have been visiting Mountain Valley Farm since 2011. My wife and I go on a regular basis. We cannot say enough about the butter, cheese and all the meat products and of course ice cream we are addicted to. We have taken friends with us to visit what Cindy and I simply refer to as The Farm. The staff and owner's are always the best and so helpful every time we visit. The Farm is like Family to us.

The shop inside is neat and organized but it stops there. When visiting the animals you are completely heart broken, they are laying in feces with flies all over them. Way too many lambs/sheep/goats penned together. The smell was horrid. The animals were so muddy and it hadn’t even rained. It was so hot and there was no fans or way for them to cool down. In the heat, we were so sad to see them in this condition. It really makes me question their meat and overall ethics.

We love this place not just because of the meat we purchase but the animals are fun to look at. It’s a very clean facility where you can tell the animals are well taken care of. Rabbits are lose and hop around. We even saw a chipmunk! The women working were very nice and helpful. New clean bathroom.

Purchased a couple of steaks, and hamburger, were ok, nothing special. Also purchased bacon and pork belly; both were very disappointing. Go to your grocer and purchase Wright Brand. Overpriced, long drive for average at best.

We really enjoyed the ice cream from the Mountain Valley Farm Store. As we arrived some people told us we had to try the ice cream. Their recommendation did not let us down. The brown sugar maple bacon was our favorite.

This is a small farm and store which was perfect for our two year old. She loved walking around to see the goats, bunnies, and cows. We stopped into the farm store to buy ice cream, pasta sauce, BBQ sauce, and peach scented body lotion. Everyone enjoyed their ice cream. I had the goat cheese Bing cherry ice cream which was AMAZING! I know it sounds like an usual ice cream flavor, but I’m so glad I gave it a try. Such a cute place for a little stop!

Beware of reviews from city folks who have never seen a real farm or eaten organic meats at reasonable cost. Nor is this is not a great place for children who want a petting area with farm animals. Better to wait until October and go to one of the big apple houses on Hwy 52 East that have them for the children and also have much larger stores with produce from the local farms.
We live in Ellijay and this place, IOHO, is way over-priced and over-rated.
Looking for high quality organic meats? Go to Waldrep's Meat store located about 5-6 miles west of town on Hwy 282 going toward Chatsworth. On the right up a hill. The sign is hard to see as it needs to be repainted, but GPS will get you there. What's it worth: organic hamburger that is NOT full of fat, but also full of flavor, for less than $5/lb! and lots more...pork, etc! They are in the phone book under meat processing. Call for hours and skip this place.

We visited in early September and will definitely be going back. The ice cream is delicious, and we also got some of the cows milk and cheeses to take home (they didn't last long as we devoured them). They also have great jams as well with a tasting area...hard to pick one...that's why we bought two! We didn't really pet the goats, though there were many others that did. The staff was very friendly and willing to answer any questions you have. Interesting story - we actually left our two jars of jam we bought on the porch where we ate our ice cream. I called and they said they found it and shipped it to me. If you are in the Ellijay area, you need to visit. You can stay 15 minutes or two hours...you will definitely enjoy your visit.

Please tell me where the LOCALS eat and what makes your town great. I love to take beautiful pictures of the fall leaves, mountains, outdoors nature stuff, old bridges, etc. I am age 55 with limited mobility. If you ever get to little ole Jesup, GA only a few hours from Savannah, you have to eat at Jones' Kitchen. That $8 buffet is out of this world! I am only going to be in town about 5 hours, please hit the "must see & do " points of your beautiful city. I heard about it on Ga Traveler. Had surgery last week, healed up, and ready to hit the road! lol

I was a traveler to Elahjay Ga. not local. I am from Mobile AL. If you ever come to Gulf Coast I would be happy to give great advise. As for North Georgia we had a lovely time in Blue Ridge. Only15 minutes from Elahjay. Happy travels

We have a small dog, an eight pound Yorkshire Terrier. Could my husband and I bring him when we are visiting?

Ellijay, GA
Because we enjoy having our smaller farm animals out so our visitors may get up close and personal, we ask only that you not bring your dog into the farm animal area. Of course, you are welcome to have your dog out on a leash in the other areas around the Farm Store, where there are still plenty of new sights, sounds and smells!

We only sell our meats here in our Farm Store, and, yes, we do ship.
Thank you
