- ElliottFriendswood, Texas199 contributionsReally an amazing placeI mean it's basically a huge grocery store, but - it's a) not a chain, and b) they sell food and that's it. But by "that's it" I mean "more food than you've ever seen in once place." Food from all over the world; produce, fish, meat, cheeses, packaged goods, spices, grains, you name it. Beer and wine too. They have an on-site bakery and make a huge variety of incredible breads. There's a lunch counter too where you can eat really well for a really low price. I have not seen anything like this place in other cities. If you like to cook, or really if you like to eat, it's worth stopping by. Note that they take cash or debit (or checks) but not credit cards.Visited December 2019Written January 12, 2020
- BN-AtlantaAtlanta, Georgia22 contributionsCan't Live Without This PlaceI love Your DeKalb Farmers Market so much. They have the best produce, meats and seafood around. Don't miss their house made smoked Turkey and roast beef and other goodies at the deli counter. I always stop by the restaurant to pick up a plate of healthy, delicious food for dinner or lunch. I probably shouldn't tell you about the breads and pastry counter. YDMF is hectic on the weekends, so go during the week if you can.Visited March 2020Traveled soloWritten March 12, 2020
- PurdueMelissaAcworth, Georgia78 contributionsA little bit of everythingThis was our first trip here and we will definitely be back. We bought some obscure produce and then watched videos on how to prepare it - so that was fun. We stopped by the bakery and they warmed up some delicious pastries for us to eat while we shopped. You can also get your fruits juiced on the spot, which was a cool option. Herbs and spices were RIDICULOUSLY cheap. Wine -- there was a little of everything with some super decent tasting bottles that I got for only $3 a bottle. Amazing. I loved the fresh cheese curds, some great pretzel and foccacia breads, and just being a part of the wonderful mesh of cultures and people shopping and working the market. It took us 45 minutes to get there from the Woodstock area but it was totally worth it and we'll be back!Visited December 2019Written January 6, 2020
- Sandi B1 contributionDog policyWe go to DeKalb farmers market twice a month for many years now and we always bring my 4lb chihuahua in a stroller. On our last visit we were approached by Frank a security guard telling us she can’t be in there even if she is a comfort dog. At that same moment a African American couple went by with a dog and he didn’t say a word to them and their dog was not!!! A service dog. Talk About a Racist Business. If you single out one person you had better approach every person with a dog .Visited December 2019Traveled with familyWritten January 11, 2020

- 1NCfoodieBaton Rouge, Louisiana1,515 contributionsMelting Pot for Mind ControlMy wife and I were patrons of this market when it first started off Medlock Rd. We enjoyed shopping there and while we lived in Decatur and Stone Mountain, we witnessed its growth. We were also educated as to Robert Blazer's forum and training scams that kept people moving through new areas and him being reimbursed by government programs. Bilk, Bilk, Bilk. The market is still milking the Covid wagon. The market is in decline and it is understaffed. The selections are nothing like they used to be and Blazer's one world crap continues. The bakery section is decent, again, if someone can speak English and package cake properly. Wrapping iced slices in paper and then putting them with 4 others in a box means, you have to eat the paper to get the icing for your cake. Having the packager drop the cake box upside down on the counter was special. IMHO, it is not worth the trip down Ponce de Leon. It would be nice if Blazer hired a few folks that can speak English. Oh, don't forget to get a copy of Blazer's BS books.Visited July 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten July 17, 2023

Halal meats, thorough fish market, spice selection through the roof, coffee, fresh Bakery, Chicken, beef, turkey, lamb, lamb, ect… they grind ground meats on site. It’s nothing to see a butcher come out with a lamb over his shoulder. Get it done folksVisited March 2022Traveled with familyWritten March 19, 2022

- wgriffi52 contributionsFirst bad experience at Dekalb Farmer Mkt; Spoiled WatermelonsI've given them only two stars because of my recent incident. I purchased a watermelon for $5.99 and it was spoiled. I tried to take it back and received a hard time from both manager and receptionist. They actually accused me of lying. They finally gave me my money back and because I want a melon bought another one. When I got it home to cut it, and found it was spoiled also. I was too angry to go back. So please be aware that some of the melon selling for $5.99 are spoiled. Please smell the melon before you eat it. I suspect there are more of them that are spoiled hence why they will not cut them for you unless you then bought it by the pound (.59 cent/lb.). If you find that you have a spoiled one, please post it. This is the first time that this has happened to me. I'm too afraid to purchase another one. good luck.Visited May 2022Written May 16, 2022
- rlp0503Atlanta, Georgia3 contributionsRude Meat ManagerI've been shopping here for over 30 years. They do have a unique and exceptional variety of items that you can't find any where else. And they are often less expensive. But they are horrible about taking items back even if they are not good. Buy fish (which I do a lot) at your own risk. It can be expensive and if it's spoiled there is no option but to throw it away. The meat market manager is extremely rude. Yesterday, I wanted to pick out 4 short ribs which is what I told him. He just grabbed 4 and threw them in a bag. It wasn't enough meat so I had to ask another nice employee to get me two more. I expressed my dissatisfaction to the desk and the lady called the meat manager and guess who came up, the very guy that had waited on me. I told him that I thought he was rude and he started a very tense argument and was very aggressive. This happens every time I buy rea meat and I figure he has been the one waiting on me. Never will I buy meat from them again, because this man was so angry it was scary.Visited May 2022Written May 24, 2022

We spent half a day in this place examining all sorts of oddly colored and shaped fruit and veg (as well as the usual varieties), a bountiful flower stall, the biggest wine selection we've ever seen and a seafood market that would delight any gourmet chef or goggle eyed child. There were few bargains but infinite variety, color, scents and sights to delight the senses. I took home some Steen's cane syrup (not available up north). No entry fee, plenty of free parking.

Recently I bought a pack of 25 lb Teff flour. I'm so disappointed that the Teff flour I bought is, looks like it got mixed with other ingredients. The smell, the texture, how it looks, how it tastes and so on... Everything of it is different. I'm even scared to bake and eat it. Because I'm not allowed to eat wheat and what if it us mixed up with wheat ingredients. I bought it $59.99 + tax. It is very irritating to spent $60+ for nothing.

I’ve been here twice and I must say that I love this farmers market! They have just what I am looking for each time I go. The prices are decent as well. My suggestion would be to go as soon as they open. This place gets crowded and busy fast!!!

My name is Dr. Aaron T. Moyana and I live in Birmingham, Alabama and have traveled to shop at the DeKalb store since the 70's. I am wondering if it is possible to expand to Alabama. I am a retired educational administrator, and we do have an extensive international community from all over the world and your products could be a hit here in Alabama. I live just off I-20 and it takes about 2 hours to Atlanta. Your expansion could involved ordering and distributing products to the selected location and reporting on a daily basis sol products and earned profits. The mayor of the city, Leeds, is my neighbor and could be intrumental in getting this done with little risk to your investment. I can be reached at: my e-mail and 205 337-2164. I look forward to hearing from you at your earliest convenience.
