History lovers will love this reconstructed old fort and this significant piece of pre-colonial history, and nature lovers will love the stroll into the marsh to the banks of the Altamaha River. Start with the informative 12-minute video, then peruse the small museum (which has a nice timeline of the history of the area and an interesting display of early... More

Went to the Scottish History Day at the fort. What a nice day. Although small, it is obviously well loved. Thoroughly enjoyed the reenactment. Felt as if I was living back then. Although I live 4 hours away I have already made plans to return for the Viking reenactment.

There is a plethora of information about the history in the area and well worth the price of admission.

A good stop for some quick history The fort has been reconstructed well and you get a good idea of how they live. Seems they are not very crowded and the main building looked like it was going through some changes. There is a nice nature trail also.

A really nicely built replica of the earliest type of Georgia fort....with alot to see (and read) on a small area....usually relatively quiet and peaceful....very pleasant indeed.. .on the way to or from the Forts Frederica and McAllister...

The opportunity to understand what it was like for the British who first inhabited this area is available to you at Ft. King George. There are also several nature trails through the woods and along the river that are easy to travel.

It must be over ten years since I've been to the reconstructed fort but, having seen the above tour advertised and having visitors to stay, I thought - "why not". What a good call. The tour took about an hour and walking around in the moonlight, helped only by candles or flaming torches was an absolute delight. The people who... More
